1.8 tsi cylinder head bolt setting - Please help!

Featured Replies

Hi All. Can anyone advise of the torque settings that should be applied when replacing the head on the 1.8 tsi engine?

I have spent hours trying to find them or a workshop manual.

The engine suffered a timing chain tensioner failier resulting in broken valves etc.

I've had the head rebuilt but need to know the settings. so please let me know what they are or where they can be found.

Thanks all.

Morning jafo, thank you for getting back to me, much appreciated as i need to get this torqued  down this morning.

The engine code i think is CDA126738 its all i can see and is stamped onto the cylinder block near the flywheel housing.

i have worked it out in old money ( ibf.ft ) and i get from the picture 18, them 47, them 90 degrees then another 90 degrees , then warm the engine up, back off 30 degrees and re torque to 65 lbf .ft ?

seems like a right faf  and also i'm thinking that 47 lbf.ft plus half a turn, even with backing it off 30 degrees is still going to be higher than 65 lbf.ft i would have thought ?

Or is it different with my engine code ? very confusing

Many thanks...
