Accessing Driving Modes

Featured Replies

I was  creeping/coasting along in slow stop start traffic around Chatsworth, with the auto stop/start working every few seconds. I was in Sport mode and the steering went very heavy each time the engine stopped.

My Android phone cum satnav was on a tray, hiding the buttons, in front of the gear stick. Is there another way to change the driving modes apart from the, by now concealed, mode button?

I did move the phone eventually, to change to Normal mode, but touching that turned the navigation off.

The steering will always go heavy when the engine stops. Nothing to do with the mode. Engine is required for power steering. No engine, no power steering.

I wondered - but it seemed more obvious in Sport mode. The engine starts automatically if the steering wheel is turned but the momentary heaviness was bothersome.

If it's DSG just tap the stick back and it's back into normal mode.

If it's DSG just tap the stick back and it's back into normal mode.

That only take the gearbox out of sport, nothing else.
