Speedo / Tacho Chrome Rims ?

Featured Replies

Anyone had these fitted to their (non VRS) Octavia ?

Made by Milotec and supplied by Butt's.

If so - how much of the dash do you have to pull apart ?

looks like dash out and disembled to me (about an hour i would think).

all u have to do is take two screws out for the surround and then another two for dash insert disconnect the two connections and walla its done

... that's what I thought. Maybe give it a miss for now !

no the dash insert is easy if all u have to do is remove front clear cover just unclips.

Where are the clips located and will there be any complications? Also, are those available through postal order? and the cost?

What on earth is the point of having a nice matt dash and instruments and then adding something which will cause reflections?! They are nothing less than an ergonomic disaster!

I believe a certain Fabia vRS owner was moaning at amber reflections off the speedo from streetlights overhead... I think, with this in mind, I'll stick with my dash TBH. Still fancy a chrome effect gearstick though. :D

Rob.

 have you gone off the chrome alloys yet jason or are you getting your current ones chromed

No - I'm just getting my current alloys scratched on a regular basis. :(

I only want a chrome knob, ok? cue, "oo-er missus!"

Err.. because the dials are a bit bland without them and Audi are going for the chrome (or chromed plastic) effect which makes the speedo look like two separate gauges, which they are :)

wouldn't it be cheaper to paint them with some mettalic paint for model cars(which is spec. for plastic)?

You could always paint silver rings on the clear plastic which would give the impression of silver dials when view at the right angle. :D

It's alright there's no need to thank me.

Des

i think some one else on here tried messing around with trim and silver paint i wonder who that could be  and was it a success?

As there are 2 viewpoints on how easy fitting is (!), I did email Butts about the fitting and didn't get a reply so haven't bothered buying them.

If I do get a definitive answer I'll let you know. Thanks for the suggestion Des but I've decided that a tin of Hammerite and a 1/4 inch paintbrush may not work as well as on the std vRS dials ;)

While we are on the subject of RS dials, what's the hole on the silver band under the "O"mph all about.

Is it a black hole where all the dealer customer care goes when you try to get some help.

Dunno, Des, but the 4X4 doesn't have one so that could be why we get better service. But it doesn't explain why our cars come with that extra little bit over spec under the bonnet, does it?! :D

Completely standard - 164.6bhp / 170.4lb/ft (ie +14.6bhp and +15.5lb/ft)

Looking at your revised signature, I get the feeling that I was right in asking for a conservative (220bhp) remap ?

Mind you, if I hadn't gone through the experience with my Impreza engine self-destructing, I probably would have been nudging over the sensible limit as well.

This is also the reason why I won't use Optimax, but will use standard or other brand SUL. With BP Ultimate, it does seem a bit quieter and torquier low down, but similar higher up. To be honest, I'm finding myself driving it more and more like a diesel unless I'm in a hurry - changing up at 3500 etc

Those black holes do tend to pull in all sorts of foreign matter.

Easy solution - just buy an L&K!! :D :D

Do you get them included free of charge on the L&K then ? Any pictures !?

And is it available with four wheel drive ? ;)
