Raising the boot floor in estate

Featured Replies

Hi, new user, new skoda owner.

just got a superb estate black edition, 2014 so assume it is a MKII

The boot floor currently sits below the level of the boot lip.

I want to raise this up so the floor is level with the lip.

I have spoken to 2 different dealers and got 2 different answers on what parts I need to do this (and 2 different prices which are astronomical)

I have no rails in the boot.

Anyone able to give me a definitive answer to what parts I require to raise the floor level?

thanks in advance.

Colin

Welcome - good to have you here! You are in the right place - your Superb will be a MKII

Afraid I cant help you with the parts list - my car has the rails etc but not the raised floor option. I stopped checking it out when i discovered the loss of height (3 inches across the load space) and the 75kg load limit (my three dogs alone are over that) and I often need to throw 100 -150kg into the back.

Hopefully someone will chime in soon.

This got discussed here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/408509-superb-combi-a-lip-of-trim-when-rear-seats-are-down/#entry4690172 and also here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/408529-superb-estate-making-level/?hl=%2Btherobink+%2Bfloor#entry4690321 but again, the discussion didnt get as far as a definitive parts list.

I'm not sure the raised floor is perfectly flush with the boot lip, so building a wooden frame that's the right height and putting the existing carpet on top of could well be simpler - and you can make it as strong as you need if you're worried about load capacity. I'm not sure since I have rails in my boot, but if cars that don't have rails have a carpet across the full width of the boot rather than carpet between the rails only, you won't have to fill any gaps at the sides either.

Yeah, was thinking of making a frame and floor out of MDF. Got a lot of diving gear to go in the boot so need something strong.

Was hoping to get a part number for the floor at least, it would be the correct shape, and I wouldn't need to make one from MDF and cover it with carpet.

Was going to put extra support under the Skoda floor anyway.

A rubber mat with raised edges would be no harm if diving gear is going in there anyway. With enough ribs run under the existing floor it will be strong enough to take heavy loads anyway. pay a little extra and get marine plywood if you're making a new floor though - MDF tends to turn to mush if it gets wet.
