Mod friendly Insurers - who, what, etc ?

Featured Replies

OK, my R32 is going and the vRS is coming this week and although my current insurer is Mod friendly, their basic quote is far from good compared to other quotes I've had (R32 premium is one of the best around, but apparently they're not following suit for the vRS).

Anyway, I'd very much appreciate it if you guys with mods; from the basic springs / filter type upgardes all the way to the Re-maps, FMIC, Coilovers, big brakes, etc, could tell me who you are insured with and a brief descption of your mods and how you rate the additional costs you had to pay,

ie

- Elephant.co.uk

- X mod, Y mod, Z mod

- Fairly reasonable on the additional fee

many, many thanks in advance!!!!!

Zurich was a little more own risk, and about 100 quid more for all changes except for turbo, rear ARB and will not touch remaps/chipping in any shape or form.

The rest was no problem strangely. The new one will probably be Norwich Union based, havent got the latest quote yet as I'm investigating some options rather quickly at the moment to decide what mods I'll end up with. If I can get hold of the right people tomorrow I'll try to get the paperwork through and get that requoted/posted back :)

I'm with Greenlight

Sorry. Can't be arsed to list mods but try Chris Knott.

Basically, most insurers I've called are happy with the regular mods like Suspension, brakes, alloys, filter, etc but whe it comes to Remaps and Intercoolers they shy away,

so, who has these mods and has good value insurance ?

:) :)

I think I already said. Look at the link every time someone types the word insurance

I know, Chris Knott, but one insurer isn't really a choice. I think that many on here will be insured by other insurance companies and I'm looking for a few options so I can decide who is best out of the bunch.

Anyway, thanks all the same for advising about CK, they're on my list to call tomorrow!

:)

Need to give 'em a call. I'm on the wrong side of 30, 10 years NCB, no bad stuff at all, good postcode area, married, child, etc etc etc.

I seem to be getting small charges for the wee things which you mentioned you got for FREE, but my main concern is how much a remap is going to cost and how much that is as a %age of the overall additional costs.

:)

EDIT: just tried AA online and they want £312 without any mods!! Hmmmmm.....

EDIT II: Tried Norwich Union Direct (and AA) and they charge for lowering springs, alloys, etc and won't touch remaps or engine mods!
