Apparently the photographer couldn't get Shiftys car in focus because it was moving so fast.

Just thinking that myself. I'm not gutted, honest. :(

Are you driving over the Catterum in that picture Shifty.

Yep, clean over the top, the headlights got snagged on my bumper, and that extra 470 kg i ended up dragging around made it quite difficult to take the doors off the Audi S3. **

** Utter fiction. :D

I was indicating to let the fastest car on the circuit, by a long long way, get past just after the corner. That Caterfield was very very quick indeed.

The Ausi S3 wasn't slow, the pilot was using the track day to get used to his new suspension set up, so don't be under any illusions as to my car being a match for a 4wd 265 bhp beast.

So what was it a match for then, Shifty ?

No worries Shifty! The bloke in the S3 is one of my students so I'll 'ave 'im for ya next time he comes in for an emergency sortie!!!!;)

Naah, seriously though, he's a top bloke! I think he's got a few more tweeks planned as well:eek: He's going again on the 12th March so it'll be interesting if you're there to see if he's any faster!

So, were you just about to blow past him after that bend then or what!:D:rolleyes::D

Cheers

I blew his doors off, :D but he really wasn't going for it at all. He seemed a nice bloke, came over for a chat.

@ Goochie - not biting mate. ;)

I'll bite...BMW on road tyres :)

First 30 mins I've ever driven a RWD car in anger car and pulled a 58.2 lap.

Now track tyres are good for a couple of seconds a lap over new roadys and slicks are good for 2 at least on top of that, maybe more on a good day.

The fact it was skipping grip in school, abbots radar and the hairpin and I was taking it easy is a guide, and I was slow as hell on gear changes, especially my down shift, really need to work on my blips, as locking the rears is really bad, but fun...hehe

So there we go, the fab was almost as quick on track tyres as a 17 year old BMW on it's track debut with bushes that looked alot like this: _ But it's still a good 6 to 8 seconds off the octavia laps I've passengered in, so there is some room for us to improve, as it's faster than that, I know there is more in her than we've found in 2hours of track work :)

S3 will be fast once sussed, hat off to you fella for takin it out, good circuit for it.

Anyhow Dave knows what was said in car, its up to him to report that how he sees fit. I personally felt and have always the Fabia's roll was loosing him speed, the front ARB, maybe. A certain amount of banter is required to generate interest in track days as only a few brave souls venture out to the track...my hat goes off to all those who dare and ultimately discover why it's 200% better than any A road driving, regardless of pace. Because out there your pace is fast enough for you and quite possibly faster than the guy in front, but defintely not the guy behind ;)

Well said Colin. I'm gonna try and blag my accountants car, an M6 for next time. Unlikely though :(

I took on board the front roll comments, and also, i know myself which areas of that circuit i can improve on. My tyres, although track tyres, had pretty much had it in all fairness on the front. I changed later to soft compound at the front, road tyres at the back, it was much slower, but so much more fun :D

It was a good day, and the sooner more Briskodians realise the better. You don't have to muller your car or tyres, or even drive fast to enjoy the day.

Bring on the next one :D
