Water in spare wheel well

Featured Replies

I know that in the past the Octavia and Superb had problems with water leaking into the wheel well through the wiper motor and/or poor seals. I'm after emptying the water from my own 2009 Octavia giving it a early clean before picking up the new car in January.

And it just got me thinking....

Have Skoda solved this issue? Does anyone have water in their Superb in by the spare wheel?

Wasn't a problem I encountered with my Superb II estate with rear wiper during the four years I owned it nor has it been the case for my one year old Superb III hatchback with rear wiper.

No unoptioned swimming pool in mine either.

The boot seal on the Octavia was notorious for filling with water, which would then allow it to overflow into the boot. Fixed in minutes by putting a hole in the outside of the boot lip seal at the lowest point at each side of the boot. The washer pipe to the rear wiper also popped off as a result of the nozzles being either designed very badly or positioned badly so that normal road dust would block them. I used the wire from a bin bag twist tie to keep the nozzles clear to stop the washer pipe popping off again.

The time the rear washer popped off, the leaking fluid landed on a grounding point in the boot of the car. All the warning lights came on, the ABS disabled itself and the engine didn't stop running after removing the key - 3 sheets of kitchen paper worth of washer fluid soaked up and everything was back to normal.

If you have a panoramic sunroof on the Superb II the drains from this can leak and feed water into the boot/onto the A pillar trim depending on whether you're parked uphill or downhill - I've had this one too. I'll probably have to drop the roof lining and put hoseclips on all the joints to stop it ever happening again to really get peace of mind on this, but it seems okay at the moment.
