Big funny shaped back lights!

Featured Replies

Hello - first of all I don't know if my roomster is a mk1 or a mk2...it's from 2011 if that helps?

About a year ago I had a slight dispute with a 4x4 and cracked the glass of the rear light. I couldn't afford to get the (cosmetic) damage to my car fixed at the time as I had to pay my lovely neighbour for his car fixing. He bought the glass for his rear light off eBay and paid a local guy to fit it but I've never found any roomster glass to buy.

Has anyone replaced this glass? Will I have to buy it from the Skoda dealer or do VW or Seat make anything that fits? I'm worried this glass will cost nearly as much as the car did!

(I'm sad there will be no more Roomsters, pretty fond of mine! No plans to buy a new car any time soon but will maybe look at a Yeti next)

Ps thanks in advance for any advice! I found a whole roomster on eBay for 99p but it's too far away - Bicester if anyone wants one to break up for parts!

Hi there. Have you tried this company?  I've not tried them myself, but just wondered... there are quite a few online if you put Skoda Roomster+parts into google.

If you contact the guy with the whole roomster, he may just sell you the part you need. It's usual to advertise a car at a breakers for a small amount of money, then you ask for the part you need and they give you a price for buying and shipping it to you. Fingers crossed you can get the part you need! :)

Hi TR and welcome to Briskoda.

As far as I am aware, the big, funny shaped back lights are unique to Roomster.

Good luck!

I would look for a complete cluster as this will be more available than the plastic lens , a quick check they start from around £30 from eBay for a recovered unit. The clusters are simple to remove with a screwdriver as they have to be removed to change the lamps.

As I recall, there's a slim allen-key style tool in the foam insert within the spare wheel, it fits the screws to undo these light clusters.

I've transferred mine into the glovebox wallet that holds all the handbooks. Easier to get to!

Thanks for telling me what that allen key is for

Just an observation. Apart from the Roomster being a brilliant car, I've always been impressed with the "BIG funny shaped back lights" at least you can see them. Have you ever been passed by a so called "prestige" car at night and thought, " I can only just see your rear lights", some top of the range cars have really small rear lights, I wouldn't buy one, just because of that. :nerd:

I am pleased that the Roomie still has bulbs. Those LED clusters must be more dosh to replace than a bulb.
