On a similar note, my key is frequently failing to disengage the immobiliser (the car with the key symbol keeps flashing after the ignition is turned on). If I turn off and back on a couple of times it usually works. Is this just a sign of dying batteries in the key, or is it likely to be something more sinister ... ?

nick does this happen with both keys if so the wiring between immobilioser coil reader and immobiliser control unit (in dash) will have to be replaced if the other works fine then the key will need to be replaced hope this helps big k.

Good point - will try the other key
