What has the Sharan got to do with the Kodiaq?

both are 7 seaters, for big families. Comparing kodiaq not only within SUV range but also in MPV range...both can be orderd with 4x4, 7 seat, DSG...both offer a lots of room. But Sharan and Alhambra are much older, technicaly...

A SEAT Alhambra Max Roof Load is 75kg.

The current VW Sharan is built beside them in Portugal and i can not see why the Max Roof Load would be any more for them.

EDIT. Doh.

But i see that they are and the VW Spec gives the VW Sharan with a Max Roof load of 100kg.

PS EDIT. Doh Doh.

The Alhambra Owners Manual also gives the 'Permitted Roof Load' as 100kg...

Looking forward to trying the trail bike with wheels still on laying flat in the back test with a Kodiaq.

  • 4 weeks later...

Back in the 80s we took 3 little kids to a French camp site in a Ford Escort. How we fitted everything in I really don't know.

I'm sure we brought some beer & wine home.

I don't think roof boxes had been invented.

Did progress to a towbar mounted bike rack on a later car.

I think I'll shoot myself before I fit a roof box :-)

We went to the South of France (near Perpignan) for two weeks with 3 kids in an Escort Convertible (bizarrely the Escort was just about the only convertible with 3 seats/belts in the back). The next year I said *******s to doing that again and bought a Citroen Synergie (old C8)

I admire your restrained, mature and conflict-avoiding response  :D
