Hello, I am new to the Briskoda forum and come to that, new to forums and messaging in general so I may make a few mistakes along the line.

Me: getting on a bit but still an enthusiastic driver. Always willing to learn more about the car but probably not so willing to do more than day-to-day maintenance nowadays.

I bought an Octavia III Elegance hatchback back in 2013.  Wanted the adaptive cruise control otherwise I would have bought earlier. As it happened there was a delay (I was told) with the radar units so couldn't get delivery 'til December.  In the end I added a lot of the extra goodies: 2-litre diesel, DSG automatic, Bi-Xenon headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, parking assist, 3-spoke steering wheel with gear shift paddles. Some of these were designed to get my wife driving again but that didn't work.

Love the engine torque, the auto box, the Bi-Xenons and the ACC but the rest don't get used very often.

Previously had a 2008 VW Passat estate and was amazed that the luggage space was virtually the same. With the same engine the Octavia outperforms the Passat easily.

Welcome along :hi: .  Great spec!
