1.8T vRS cold induction kit

Yes a few of us have them, one person had mixed feelings, but I really rate mine.

E-mail John at [email protected] and mention Briskoda and he will do you one for £40 inc delivery.

I am in Harlow if you want to meet up to try before you buy.

I believe I'm the one with "mixed feelings" ;)

I thought it was a total waste of money, you'r ebetter off spending £40 on a tank of Optimax.

In my opinion its too noisy, sounds like a boy-racer'd Vauxhall.

Also looses torque at the top end (proven fact).

The Carbonio CAI (£175) however, sounds very nice, looks better, fits better and perfomrs better.

The £40 ones are a nice idea but it goes to show that you get what you pay for.

Of course this is just my opinion.

So does the ABD one ;)

But would it have held top end boost on yours if the MAF and other faults you have had recently, had not been there??

The car was running perfectly until about 2 weeks after I'd removed the CAI. You really need to fit one before having a remap in order to see any real gains.

So now they are not a complete waste of money after all, provided (In your opinion) you fit them before a remap?

Mines allready been re-mapped. I also have a green panel filter and a blue flame exhaust. i like the panel filter as its not to noisy. My other concern is does the filter stay relativly clean. My wife also uses my car and has a horse and some of the roads/dirt tracks she travels down can be quite muddy and dusty.

Shouldn't really matter if it's mapped or not...ECU will adapt to it.

All filters will get dirty whether it be CAI or standard.....with most CAI is that you can clean and reuse filter.

If you go for a CAI you should clean filter just as you would change the OEM filter...every 10k or depending on how dirty is looks.

Having experienced both the

The ebay CAI is a superb bit of kit for the money. Absolute bargain! Has a nice throaty growl and the recirc valve gives a good 'pshhhh' noise. Now revs more freely and pulls hard and smooth in every gear to the redline. No torque spikes whatsoever. You've just got to remember to reset the throttle and ecu after fitting.

For the price of a tank of optimax it's got to be worth a go!

Having experienced both the £40 ebay item and a carbonio' date=' I'd save for the Carbonio. The noise is makes is a lot nicer and it simply looks like a better engineered item (then it does cost a lot more)

If you dont want to spend £175+ on a CAI, get a tank of Optimax instead.

Phil, not having a go, but if it all boils down to the looks and noise, instead of the increase in performance, that I, and others have experienced with the cheaper item, then I will continue to use the cheaper item and spend the difference between that and a Carbonio on other things.

I use Tesco 99 ron all the time anyway.

I've a BMC CDA induction kit. Not cheap (

BMC is supposed to give the best gains, but I couldn't afford it!

My Jabba CAI is still for sale BTW. ;)

Cheers guys. I think I might give it a go. I allready run the car on Tescos 99ron and Shell Optimax so I'm used to the spending the extra on fuel prices.

Is it an easy thing to reset the throttle and ecu?

Yeh, when car is cold open the door and bonnet and turn on the transmission so that everything lights up, fans come on etc, but don't start the engine. You'll hear various noises (beeping etc). Wait until these stop, shut bonnet and door and start the engine. Leave idling 4-5 mins. Done.

To reset the ECU you need to use VAG-COM. The above procedure only resets the throttle body.
