alloys or steel wheels on new Fabia?

Featured Replies

I'm ordering a new 1.4 ambience. Is there any difference in road noise with alloys, either 14" or 15" versus the standard steel wheels?. I'd like alloys but only if they are no noisier or better still, quieter.

Thanks

Why do you think they would be quieter?

noisier i can understand although i dont think they will be.

It's the tyres that make the noise on the road so i'm guessing that you reckon 15 alloys will be wider than 14" steels so more tyre = more noise.

they probablly will be by 1/2 an inch so the contact patch (the part of the trye on the road at any given time) will only be a tiny bit bigger.

thanks for that. I'm being over critical perhaps, but this is the first new car I've bought from my hard earned moolah.

Cool hope its not silver lol.

Red cars are faster (maybe not but they are cheaper lol)

It's black, because I always thought that black ones went faster. First job will be a couple of shelf speakers. Ordered with a sunroof for carrying long objects and taking pictures whilst the missus drives, maybe fresh air too. Will post dealer experience when it arrives. Would have happily bought a used VRS but never found one with a sunroof. Still, a few years down the line, can trade up to a new one with sunroof. Is it ok to drive one whilst wearing a trilby and smoking a pipe?

If so, I'll tell the missus she can.

Your right in your theories, black ones are indeed faster, good choice

Go for alloys if its not to late :)

If i'm wrong on this i'm sure someone will point it out but I was told by the dealer that sunroofs are pricey optional extras or not available at all if car is fiited with AC. cos AC wont work properly if sunroof is open or indeed if the windows are open.

It sounded plausable

I have both a sunroof and A/C in my Furby vRS. Both have their uses (but not necessarily at the same time).

ordered vRS with sunroof. Really is a nice thing to have, lightens up inside of car to.
