Top Speed out of your Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi there, reacently went to Germany, and traveled along the "Autobahn" To find my self going a little faster than i had in the UK.

Whats the speed that people have had out of there Fabia Vrs, either on road or round a track?

I couldnt get it quicker the 136 mph on the clock.

Mods on the car are, exhaust and filter.

  • I've heard that 155 mph was achieved on a dual carriageway somewhere in England against a Mitsubishi Mira Extreme ME 450 !

I've seen 140 on the clock as standard.

Remapped, around 140-145 is achievable nomally, but with gradient on your side, 150 ;)

The older gearbox version should get a little higher than that I'd imagine - still I'm personally no fan of revving the nutz off a diesel for extended periods of time. And effectively you would be ;)

135 in standard form, 147 remapped. Have seen it off the speedo, but was downhill.:D

Because i'm in the process of running in (and I tend not to break any laws  ) I can't believe that the Fabia vRS will do 135mph !! Is that true, in a standard car ?? (I'm sure I must drive like a Grand dad)

132 on the GPS on the straight and level.

Chris

Yep, I'd say around 135 on the flat standard, and 145ish remapped.

Yep, I had 136 on my GPS after about 2-3 mins of thrashing in Germany... Was reading over 140 on the speedo....

The car was two up, and full of luggage too! SWMBO was fast asleep so obviously quite refined top end too.

I say that too... I had 140+ on the speedo, but GPS showed a real speed of 135.....

Unmapped couldnt get it above 130 on the speedo.

Remapped can get it to 140 if I have a long enough straight. Gets to 130 pretty quickly considering but then it really is a struggle to get it to 140. I am sure it could probably do 145 if going downhill, but this is slightly unfair.

The older 53 reg gearbox had a few more MPH in it because of the taller gearing.

By comparison, my ex TDCi Mondeo with 170 bhp could go off the clock (150 mph indicated). But in reality it was no more than 150. Aerodynamics play a big part at that speed.

Whats the fastest I have ever gone in a car? 170 mph and still pulling in a TVR Sagaris

Whats the fastest I have ever gone as a pillion rider on a bike? 190 apparently (couldnt see the speedo) on the back of a tuned Hyabusa.

Chris.

with a remap you'll probably find the car runs out of revs before the gearbox runs out of legs.

on my audi before remap the car would run out of steam at about 115 but have lots of revs left.

After remap it revs to the redline in 5th and will do 125.

its done 140 downhill.

but then again you have 6 gears you should all enter the revs top speed challege go on put yer money where yer mouth is lol

Unmapped couldnt get it above 130 on the speedo.

Ses who?

It can... three times on one trip... And one very silly occasion playing with a Renault Clio 172 in blighty...

My speedo is approx 4mph 'fast' according to GPS. Is that the norm ?

That's very interesting :rubchin: May have to do some experimenting ;)

Yes.

I naturally never go above 70 mph on the motorway so I dont know!!

Mine is the newer gearbox by the way, and at 147, i reckon it would pull 155-160 if it had ALOT more power to haul it through the aerodynamic barrier.

With 215/40/17 Rubber the speedo and my GPS show the same speed.

70mph on the speedo. About 60ish on GPS.

EH ? Surely a case for Skoda technician to look at. (you're not afraid he'll blame your re map are you) :D

In a straight line, this makes your car as fast as a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7 !! Scary stuff.

Can't fault the remap. Gets me to 70mph much quicker :D

I love this speedo/gps comparison.

Speedo's on there own have always been good enough for me to measure my speed tbh, as thats what they do.

Who is to say gps is deadly accurate?

Anyway, on oem wheels and tyres, my speedo is 10% more than my gps, and on my 18" wheels, they are identical, right up to v max, which since my remap was tweaked, is over 140 mph.
