Hi all.

 

I am new in the VCDS world, and I am seeking for help to code after changing to new start battery.

 

My car is Octavia 1.6 tdi Green line 1Z (Face Lift) from 2011, with Start/stop function.

 

The battery is needs to be changed, so I bought a new Varta E39 AGM 70Ah but not from Skoda.

The old battery is a VW/Varta AGM 68 Ah with following BEM Code:

000915105CC JCB2B0103308R.

 

But if I am checking for battery info with VCDS, as showed in this video, I can’t see the correct battery info anywhere.

If I in VCDS use: "61-Battery Regul." and "Coding - 07" I don’t get the active Drop Down menu where I can choose any things, as shown in video.

 

If I go in through the "19-CAN Gateway - Long Adaptation 0A" I cannot choose "Battery Information / Replacement"

 

If I manually select "Channel 04" then comes the following battery info until "Stored value":

068 XXX 000915105C (total 18 Digits Inc. spaces)

The mysterious thing about this is that on my VW BEM code label reads:

000915105CC JCB2B0103308R

It's not the same figure….

 

Can anyone please help me how to code my new battery, if any coding is necessary?

And why can’t I read the correct value from my old battery in VCDS (still mounted)

its very common on vehicles with battery monitoring systems ,if not done the alternator may not charge the battery fully ,the bosh KTS system we use lets us input battery specs but my ODIS unit uses the coding of an OE battery's , ifound this u tube video witch may help

Every day is a learning day for me too!  Presumably this this only required only for start / stop systems and AGM batteries? 

My Skoda Octavia 1.6 tdi Green Line 1Z has start / stop.

I have tried all three methods from the video, but none of them is possible, I don't get  any drop down menu, where I can make any choice..?

Assuming it's a genuine cable, it might be worth posting on the ross-tech forum. If it can be done they should know how :)

The first cable was not, I've have discarded it now, and has bought a genuine cable today, I'll try again tomorrow and see if it made any difference.

Otherwise I will try on Ross-tech forum when they have accepted my registration, that I have made right now.

So now I managed to get the battery coded.

I do not know if it was due to the old cable, or I just did not find the right menu.

But now I coded it under: 61-battery regulation, 10 Long Coding, Ch 04

Problem solved.
