Coding a keyfob into Audi A4 ?

Featured Replies

Hi my mate has an Audi A4 and he has tried some utube videos to try and get the car to accept an old key for the car and cannot do it,he asked Audi and they said it would have to go on the computer for £85 so can VCDS do it ? Cheers Stuart

There are two matching bits to do 1) Unlock/Lock of Doors    2) Immobiliser to allow car to start.

I think that to do 2 you need the 4 digit Secret Key Code number for your car. Mine is a 2007 Roomster and they gave me the SKC when I brought the vehicle new. I have read that on much newer vehicles that that SKC is no longer given out. The codes are stored on VWs main computer and the Diagnostic computer in the VW garages exchanges information on-line with VWs server to obtain the key for it to do the work. From the user point of view they don't get to see the SKC and can't get it if they wanted to anyway.

Hence if you don't have the SKC then you can't do 2) above, all you can do it make the doors lock and unlock.

There must be ways around this, but not with VCDS, because all the mobile car key people manage to cut and pair keys fine. VagTacho is a program that springs to mind ?
