Cam belt not under tension ?

Cam belt not under tension ?

just dont know....what happends then?

Annoying and unwelcome that is for sure.  Cambelt not properly tensioned would let the valves contact pistons. But who knows.  It does seem very likely to be related to the head gasket work. Guess you are going to get recovered to the garage that did the work and ask them what has happended?

Oh dear!

Sounds like a cambelt drive failure leading to piston/valve contact and seized.

Prepare to hear that engine is economically a write off.

Garage is most likely liable for faulty workmanship, fingers crossed you get it sorted (for free).

update 2:

cylinder 1 complete loss of compression, glowplug bent and seiged engine. All what comes to cambelt all is in order.

they open engine upp on thursday!

Glowplug bent? Only possible if piston has detached from connecting rod or crankshaft.

Is this one of those BXE engines reknown for breaking conrods, usually punching a hole in the block? In that case its not down to cambelt but another VAG well known but not acknowledged serious quality/design problem.

So, give us a clue.

Is it some kind of contraceptive device? ;)

Is the engine resurrected?

valve shft snapped rigt att retaining plate and dropped the valve and remaining chaft on the piston.

WHY is the big question. all walves was removed when cylinder head was tested att workshop and then put back together!

valve snapped right of right under valve retainer. so bits and pieces like locking bits are still in retainer plate.

this caused valve to drop on piston and seiged the engine.

question is WHY did walve snap? 200 000km on the clolk and 99% on higway with cruise!

Oooo ugly!!

Was the valve an original or changed with a new valve during head refurbishment? If changed, then you should persue a warranty claim against the supplier/repairer.

Never ever seen a valve stem snap off like that, it suggests something like a chinese pattern part was used.

So is the engine a write off or is it repairable?

It depends on head/cylinder/piston/conrod/crank/bearing damage. A full stripdown may be required to find out the full extent of the damage. Cylinder damage means its a write off.
