Scout - No Power to Washer Fuse

Featured Replies

Hello all (and thanks for being a great source of information, saved me numerous times)....

Just taken Scout to garage (who I trust for the most part) as washer and rear wiper not working.

They changed the pump, but say that the problem is not the pump, rather that there is no power to the fuse. (i.e. its not the fuse - just that there is no power getting to the fuse, full stop.)

Facts, that I know:-

Tested the fuses

Rear wiper doesn't move at all (either on intermittent or on wash)

Front washer - nothing

Headlamp washers - appears to be working (i.e. water gets sprayed)

I guess this could be damage to the loom, but kind of feels like a relay - however not sure if there are relays in places other than in the engine compartment (relay 100, which should run the lighting...?)

Going back to the garage on Friday to do more diagnostics (nothing on the ECU, apparently) - but just wondering if anyone had any clues in the mean time

With many thanks

Can't really help with suggestions to the fault but make sure the bonnet and tailgate are closed when doing checks as the washers/wipers don't operate when open

In which year was the car manufactured?

I had a similar problem a couple of months ago when the rear wiper stopped working. Did the obvious things first checking and replacing fuses but none faulty. Boot closed switch working fine. Came to the conclusion it must be the motor so replaced and was surprised it still wasn't working. Checked the fuses again, still none faulty. Asking for help on here as I thought it must be a faulty relay but didn't know where to locate and was suggested to try the fuses again. Out of frustration pulled the fuse again and reinserted only for the damn thing to start working again. Can only conclude that VAG wiring is trying to achieve the same standards of the Italians of the 80's.

Car is a 2008, weasel, 2.0TDi

Thanks CWARD - going to go and buy some fuses, run them through a meter and then try changing them - just for the sake of completeness.

However the garage did say "no power to the fuse" - hence my search for the mystery relay, another fuse, the electrical fairy coming to town..., but they are only human, so could be they messed up on the meter (for example, I wonder if they tested it with the bonnet up :) )

Thank you all, assistance much appreciated - going to also check the contacts on tailgate, just wondering if that explains that lack of rear wiper as well

relay what used to click when rear wiper selected on stalk, it was down by your right knee on my mk5 golf, had to remove the little pull down compartment where headlight switch is to access it, cant remember the number it had on it off the top of my head as I no longer have the car
