Hatch rear screen wash malfunction

Featured Replies

Recently noticed the rear screen wash isn't working properly, nothing gets sprayed and only a bit of the wash liquid leaks out at the base of the arm.

The temp isn't that cold here in the Midlands so can't imagine the wash liquid being frozen, and I made sure it's concentrated enough.

Is there anything obvious I should check or can do first before booking it in?

Try cleaning the nozzle/jet with a pin, sounds like a bit of dirt has clogged it up.

On the Mk. 2 failure of the rear washer motor was common - one of the few things I had replaced.

Also, a lot of threads about problems with the pipe leading to the rear washer.

Not sure if this is a similar problem on Mk. 3 ?

I had the same thing. Saved it up for the service it had today. Got a call from the dealer who said it needed replacing and it was four pounds.

I questioned why I was paying rather than warranty and he said 'The blockage is due to being run using hard water'

I asked him what was in the washer bottle currently.

He said 'Washer fluid'

I said...'Can you see where this conversation is going?'

'Maybe we can work this out as a goodwill gesture'

'Thats awfully good of you. I'll be round in an hour to pick it up'

That's how your conversation should go. :)

One problem I hoped not to get again on my Mk III. The Combi has a separate nozzle well away from the wiper arm. So the Mk III hatch has a totally different rear wiper and washer?
