Grangemouth produces lots more than fuel for Transport & Heating.

The Energy Required to do so is just amazing,

then there is also the Gas required for the process which now comes in from the USA, gas they have from Fracking.

(Surely not long now until Ineos gets to bringing the gas from under the ground within 100 miles of Grangemouth.)

I wish Skoda would have an electric or hybrid vehicle. IMHO they are truly lagging behide on that front.

Before I bought the Octavia I was so close to getting a hybrid, just couldn't get a worth while deal on a model that I wanted.

Fairly much most of my driving lately would suit hybrid/electic, next car or second car would be at least hybrid/plug in.

Even Drax is ramping up their generation from renewables. They are importing wood pellets from the USA. Probably not ethically sound to fell virgin woodland but it is within the definition of renewables.

Tidal power (Sea bed mounted turbines )is a much better way forward and unobtrusive unlike Pelamis, Salters Ducks or tidal barrages.

Yes, I am assuming the energy is from renewables.

Your video link is for HP Enterprise?

Yes, Richard is an electric car enthusiast, borderline fanatic, and even if his calculations aren't entirely right, it does give an idea of the amount of energy required to refine the fuel (and yes, I acknowledge that the sums also cater for plastics and other derivatives).

The Tesla production line is pretty much driven from renewables. The Gigafactory battery factory is 100% from renewables. I'm not saying the manufacturing cost is nill, but it is powered by renewables as much as possible.

CO2 and NO2 gasses and particulates that come from diesel are worse than from petrol. I'm not saying petrol is fine, it's just not as bad as diesel. You target the worst offenders first as it's the biggest potential improvement possible. The latest Lithium tech gives you more than 2000 charges. Cars have over 200,000km on a single battery pack. They have lost around 6% total capacity after that mileage. If you wanted to compare to ICE, I think they lose more than about 6% in power and economy after equivalent high mileages. Also, it's something that's continuously improving. Fuel only packs so much energy density. ICE have to extract as much of that as motion energy and minimise heat and other losses, but I honestly believe we've reached the limit of what can be done. The battery tech is still evolving and improving over time.

Projecting 10-50 years into the future, there's an awful lot more potential available in electric battery storage and generation than there is in fossil fuels which are only ever being depleted. Taking fracking for example, we're now resorting to "easier" methods of extraction despite the potential dangers... Things will only get worse as time goes by. The lowest hanging fruit is being grabbed first :)

I'm all for smart grid solutions, battery-to-grid ideas, etc.

The link was ment to be ,are electric cars realy green

I do think the future is in electric cars, just for spacific applications and i am a fan of hybrid cars. Again just there is far more involved in saying electric cars are better for the enviroment. And as for wood pellets thats as un ethical as carbon storage.

LOL,

I do know that British Islands & Isles are off the shores of the mainland if that is what you mean.

?

Do you have to try hard to misunderstand stuff, or is it a natural ability rather than learned?

2 weeks ago the Wind Turbine Company Rep was saying that the Turbines on the Shetlands, ie on land, should get the same treatment from the UK Government as ones in the sea.

As they are arguing, you would not have turbines in the sea and not bring the energy produced to the land & the UK Mainland.

So they want 'Onshore Electricity' / Generated on Islands from Turbines on islands, taken to the Mainland of the British Isles.

EDIT,

Sorry my bad,

Island Politicians on the Western Isles and others wanting the 'On the Land' treated as Offshore, ie in the Sea.

The same as the Spokesperson was saying on Shetland. Northern Isles

The UK Governments change their mind as often as the wind direction changes.

Ok now I will only say. Recently I read somewhere cold fusion was made possible working in mainstream media. But informed people knew it. It is used already but not know in the public. As "0 point energy" technology that produces free electric energy.

Also Nikola Tesla made car with electric motor on one battery just for start, and motor was charged with Ether (free energy) from upper atmosphere. Google is your friend.

If this sounds crazy just remember wireless charging sounded impossible. Yes we made it possible. Croats made lots of innovations so I know.  B) In the link there are few things missing like, matches, first blimp, parachute, fastest EV car, list goes on..
