Does "Greenline" always imply different Gear Ratios?

Featured Replies

Does the term Greenline always imply different gear ratios?

I have a 2008 Fabia Estate Greenline 1.4 TDI L3 80BHP (59KW).

-At 70mph is cruising at around 2100rpm.

-At 80mph is cruising at around 2300rpm.

Do, newer Fabias offer the same motorway cruising capabilities?

I am actually thinking of getting a newer Fabia. Not completely new. Just newer.

My 1.6tdi Monte revs about the same.

Greenline just means low rolling resistant tyres and the 1.4tdi or 1.2tdi on the newer ones.

Theres not a great lot different. Basically SE spec.

fg, the Greenlines of 2008/9/10 had a higher final drive ratio to raise the gearing compared to the standard 1422cc 3 cylinder engines that were not Greenline. The torque figure and engine revs were also tuned differently to the standard unit. That's why they don't like 4th gear much at 30mph or even 35mph. 40mph or above is best. And yes, all the new diesels offer Greenline type cruising. Even my petrol 1.2 TSI 110ps 7 sp DSG offers 70mph cruising at just 2250rpm.

Didnt know that!

A bigger diesel engine will have more torque to pull a higher gear anyway wont it. So may well have higher ratio's.
