Removing oil spill? :(

Featured Replies

Had an oops moment.  I always carry some oil in the car. The lid is always secured, and it's usually wedged in or tied down. Not this time apparently.  Opened my boot to see that about 1L has spilled saturating the boot carpet and the picnic mat I was using as a liner.

Any tips for getting it out? Not fussed about the picnic mat, which thankfully took the brunt of it.  The boot carpet is still sodden through - to the point you can see tide marks on the wooden part underneath.

Is the floor removable? It would make it easier to clean...

Think I'd be more inclined to chuck it away and start again.

Had similar in my wife's Fiesta, donkeys year ago.  Never did get it clean and wished I hadn't bothered trying.

That's what I was thinking too, but having no luck finding anyone that stock the part number. Scrappies it is I think...

Looks like there's quite a few on eBay.

Thanks, couldn't find any at first, but I was searching with PNs, rather than a description.

Is £30 about the going rate?
