Speedometer Question

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to driving skoda's as I was a Mazda Driver previously.

I love my new Skoda but find the User manual not that helpful. Anyway driving it home tonight in the dark I notice a orange light strobe around the speedometer on occasion.

Could any one of you kind folks enlighten me as to what that means please.

Not trying to be silly - but it's not just light reflecting off the chrome bevel surround on the dashboard, from outside street lighting?

I find that a lot of cars (my Mark3 Octy included) that have decorative reflective chrome or similar surfaces within the cabin, often reflect in the windows or dashboard at night.

Or is it an actual orange light within the dashboard itself, that is illuminating?

Can you get a photo of it?

Could it be the TC/ESP light that comes when the wheels slip?

Thanks for all the replies so far,

Its not a warning light its quite hard to describe, and would be impossible to photograph.

It's like a strobing effect on the Speedo, as in Kitt on Knight rider.

I like the answer from spinifex that seems a very logical answer so I will test this theory down a country lane where there is no lighting.

As I wrote before the User manual is quite hard to follow and I had to get the Dealer to show me how to switch the odometer on!!

Thankyou everybody

This has been raised before - it IS reflected light from outside the car.

Thanks for all the replies so far,...

If you can't see the odometer, cancel the Cruise Control by pushing the switch on the indicator stalk to the off position and the mileage appears on the dash instead of the Cruise Control graphic.

And typo on my original reply... i meant bezel, not bevel!

Thanks to all that replied, the answer is indeed the reflection of the Street lighting. I confirmed this on the Motorway when the strobing changed from a orange to white. Quite a cool effect though
