Dash /clocks removal!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anybody remove the clocks / dash cluster from a sportline? I found(translated) a description of clipping off lower bezel over wheel and there being 2 screws holding the whole unit in? Cannot even unclip the surround as the pressure is bordering on breaking something... Any help really appreciated

Thank you

A quick look at mine and I’m guessing you need to lower the steering wheel to its lowest position and see which part of the faux leather ‘sheet’ (which covers the steering column internals) can be unclipped.  Again guesswork on my part it looks like the small bit of trim underneath the ‘0.0/SET’ button can be pushed out from the rear and that faux leather sheet is secured under that. That would likely expose a torx bolt at the bottom centre of the binnacle with several clips around the edges.

I’d strongly recommend trim removal tools and gently increasing pressure to see where it’s secured (unless you can find a schematic from somewhere)

Hi Penguin17,

I have got that far but it looks like there's no torx behind as in the passat🙄, but thank you and yes have a removal set to pick up Monday for help.. Any pics on flea Bay of cluster removed  show holes very far down on the right and left which is worrying 🤔. I will possibly have to get a schematic somewhere before I proceed.

Again many thanks for your reply

No visible screws or torx 🙄

The picture in the w/shop manual isn't clear but it indicates that the pink screws are at the extreme edges of the gauge cluster just outside  the edges of the pictures.

Many thanks peter_k.. I was afraid of that.. I did notice holes in an ebay posting the same locations as you've sent me. I may have to abandon project! Trim on right will be ok but left hand side looks to be hooking around infotainment screen.. And can't be sure they will snap out and back in. Really appreciate you posting for me
