Mirrorlink transmitting driving data to application Drive & Track

Featured Replies

Dear all,

After almost a year of using and playing around with my my2016 octavia 3, i discovered an interesting thing:

After i connect my android phone using mirrorlink and then disconnect from the menu, I am able to run a VW application (Drive and Track) and oddly enough, it can connect to my vehicle and show stats like:

RPM, gass pedal pressure, brake pressure, speed, and gforces.

Althow the app needs GPS to work, the coordinates are used to draw a map for that track, and probably gforce is measured by the phone internals, but everything else seems to go thru USB.

The only problem is that the app is not certified to run while driving, and it only works while stationary if mirrorlink is active, or if i disconnect mirrorlink from the headunit menu.

I will post a video in the near future, showing the process.

I wonder if there is a list of information that can be transmitted thru USB, and if there are any apps that take advantage of this ...

For anyone interested, my headunit is a MIB2 Bolero, with smartlink enabled, and no smartgate.
