Rear Wiper and Washer

Featured Replies

The Mk2 FL hatch has the well known problem of the washer pipe detaching and consequently the wiper motor failing.

Has this design failure been addressed in the Mk3 hatch?

I've now got a Mk3 Combi which, surprisingly, has got a separately mounted nozzle -unlike the hatch.

Yeah but now the jets block through lack of use

Well, I have had problems with my rear jets blocking on my hatch recently, unblocked them again, only yesterday.

Yeah I've had the rear jets block up, can be a ball ache to get the spray pattern clear, fluid is easy but, pattern can be be tricky

Sorry to hear that still happens. But are any motors failing because of detached pipes ?

Anyone had problems with rear Combi washers yet?

Any tips on how to prevent them from clogging up (other than using it regularly) and then how to unblock it (use toothpick?) ta

My front washer spray pattern is terrible. Only 3k on the clock too. Anyone else have this issue? Sorry for the thread hi jack BTW lol

Use a fluid that is recommended for fan nozzles. Official VW stuff and Lidl amongst the ones recommended. Seriously, get it in your bottle in the right concentration, before they clog up.

To unblock the rear washer jets you need copper wire. The strands from a ring main cable fitted mine. Ask a friendly electricians mate down the pub for a short length ( ooh Matron). A toothpick or a seamstresses pin are just too large in diameter.
