MP3 news from Skoda

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is old news. Received this reply from Skoda when I enquired about future MP3 mods to spec.

"We are launching an accessory to allow connection of an MP3 player and

currently, we have no information or prices. We expect it to be

available shortly and please keep in touch with your retailer who will

be able to offer further information, when the accessory is released."

Anyone know more, or care to speculate?

Oddlegs

Interesting. Several stereo manufacuterers seem to offer boxes that wil connect Ipods to the head units via the cd changer control, so maybe this is what Skoda are doing.

A lot of Fords (eg, My Focus ST) have a socket in the glovebox, which is really handy for us portable mp3 users.

Denison Ice Link is probably the most convenient way of connecting an iPod to an OE Skoda stereo.

I ouldnt hold your breath waiting for it mate. plenty of aftermarket solution for this and prob a lot cheaper than the Skoda one. They have really screwed up on the octy II. to use the built in aux function the hu needs a firmware upgrade and a part from visteon to upgrade the hardware. waste of time.

Plenty of MP3 radio transmitters around for under £5 that plug into cigar lighter socket for power and your MP3 player for a signal to transmit. BUT you need to take out your radio and trail a short wire from the aerial input socket into the cabin space as the external 'dog's tail' aerial on the roof is shielded by the steel shell of the car. ALSO check that your MP3 player stereo socket (for your headphones) is compatible with the transmitter plug. Some MP3 players have unpopular micro sockets and plugs.

Anyone know if the VW genuine Ipod link fits a Symphony in a '05 Fabia? it comes with two cables, one with the Blue/Yellow/Green plug like in Mk4 Golfs and other VW's of similar age and one with a small blue plug like on the new models.

Should work ok. Same system but different connector. You may need to change the connector but it should be ok. I'd check with the manufacturer first if it's available with the correct connector as you would invalidate any warranty by changing the connector yourself and you need to get all the connections right

What sort of connection does a Symphony have?
