Stream Audio/Facia Removal

Featured Replies

I need some help!

I have a New Octavia Elegance ('05) with a Stream Audio.

Would someone please tell me how to safely remove the facia etc. so that I can remove the radio/display?

Do I need any special tools?

Theres a post on here somewhere with a link to a site that gives better step by step instructions with photos. Just can't find it at the moment.

Send the link onto me if you find it

Various threads exist in the forum suggesting what you need: the cheapest solution seems to be hacksaw blades.

Not on the Octavia 2. Its held in with four T20 screws.

I'll let you try that way first.

this is what you need to do....

Pull the plastic trim surround from the bottom (just above the ashtray). take off the plastic caps and the as ross says, undo the torx screws and pull out the radio, taking care not to damage the flimsy aerial. To remove the front panel of the radio unit itself (why?????) there are 4 t8 torx screws around the top and bottom of the trim.

I hang my head in shame :o and stand corrected.

You'll need to remove the actual front panel of the radio when the screws holding the radio in fall inside the radio housing when you go to re-install it. Best to use pliers to locate the screws into place first or insert a piece of card over the opening into the radio to prevent it from happening.

I think that now I Have unravelled all the knots tied to this thread I need to get a "Dension Ice>Link" or similar item.

Not being able to use the 6CD changer in the boot will be no great loss as I still have a CD player in the dash!
