So, have been quoted the following BIK and personal contribution on the two cars I'd asked for a quote on, as follows-

List Price* Co2 BIK Tax % Monthly Tax(20%) Add’l Salary Dedn

Volvo XC60 SE £32,230 117 25 £134.29 £41.25

Superb Est 150 SE-L Exec

£26,800 110 24 £107.20 £15.25

That puts the xc60 at around £300 a month all in, against the skoda at £230ish at a 40% tax rate... Not convinced it's worth the extra....

Only you can decide whether the Volvo or Skoda is the choice for you. Remember the Volvo XC60 is being replaced by an all new model later this year, I assume the prices you have are for the current model.

If you can wait for the new 2017 XC60 if it's anything like the new (ish) XC90 then it will be worth waiting for.

Personally I use this site to check my company car tax  http://comcar.co.uk/newcar/companycar/taxcalc/

Agree- the new XC60 would be worth the wait if it is as good as the XC90, but I'm starting the new role in Feb, so they want the car ordered pronto...

Having spent some time thinking I'm erring towards the Volvo, due to it's practicality on farm lanes etc- ok it's FWD only, but it will have more ground clearance etc. I'll also need to do monthly trips to Cumbria (10 hour round trips)- not that the Skoda is uncomfortable, but the ride height in the Volvo might improve that trip. I also do a fair bit of towing, and again the Vovlo may have the upper hand here.

With the Skoda, I'm also wondering whether I'm best off plumping for the SE Tech, and adding leather seats. It's £3k less than the SEL Exec, but the only extras are the Leathers, Xenon headlights, electric boot and the Columbus stereo- none of these are real deal breakers for me- and the leather seats are only £200 extra on the SE Tech.

I'm also seriously considering the XC60 and V60 both D4 in auto gearbox. I think the new XC60 would be out of my price range, the current one is technically, but Volvo are doing massive discounts on them right now to get rid of them before the new model arrives. Depending which spec Volvo as well as auto I'd like xenon lights and heated seats. The XC60 also has electric tailgate (the Superb SEL also has electric tailgate over the SE Tech). Note that if you spec full leather on the SE Tech they are not heated, this another £250 for heated front seats so total £450 for full heated leather (or £400 for heated front & rear seats).

Will have to make a decision in the next couple of days really, but am leaning towards the Volvo- despite the fact it will cost me a fair bit more (£70/month ish), and inside it's a step back from the Skoda...
