2017 Suzuki Ignis, New kid on the block. Light Hybrid, part time AWD etc.

Fugly as sin, but there are lots of choice in colour, options, after market parts,

and a bit of a Light Hybrid with 1 of the Engine choices, & you can have drive to front and rear wheels,

can be a Automated Manual (AGS 5 speed) with front wheel drive.

Competition for a Citigo, Fabia & maybe even preferable to a Yeti Replacement when Skoda get around to one if you want a smaller vehicle.

Could be worth a (quick) look at with swmbo later this yr.

i reckon a hybrid as a car for ger needs is actually the right fit. General use is short work commute and occassional long drive so while an all electric would work 90% of the time, its tht all important 10% would f*ck it up..

As long as they park it up next to the 2017 S-Cross in the showroom it'll look stunning!

Suzuki, if you are reading this please leave the Vitara alone, I'll probably have one next year when the lease on the Octavia ends, as long as you don't put that grill on it!

Absolutely!

I looked at the online brochure and my immediate thought was that it was a Chinese Geeley.......ghastly!

That's quite funky in my opinion...

Look at the front of a Macan

All function and minimum styling......clean efficiency and an example of less is more IMO

I find Asian stylists can't stop fiddling. Is it their love of origami?.

Small cars with the fussy look just look cheap n nasty IMO.

Mazda are reasonable but obsessed with the smiley look.

The telly advert is very good to hide it's worst bit, that rear qtr.

Would have to see it in the flesh. The Citroen C4 door looks similar, but has a nasty point, which really ****** hurts when you catch it on your chest. This design looks like it solves that, but still looks angular.

Sorry Colin but I'm not sure what you are referring to with the C4 (Picasso)'which we had for 3 weeks. I didn't notice a problem with a "nasty point " .......is that the driver's door?.

The non picasso one, maybe the older one. It's the rear door on the hatchback. I think then the picasso will be a different shape ;)

What surprised me was how the Suzuki Swift 1.2 AWD passed so many by, it was an absolute bargain and really rather good, but again manual only.

The original Subaru Justy automatics were great IMO and sadly nothing much like them have been available since, the newer version was nothing special.

I'm biased of course, but the modern 1.2 turbos are a revelation (particularly our 130hp/230nm one) and am wondering if I go that way with the new 3008 to replace our current 2 cars (an unnecessary indulgence) or go the AdBlue diesel route.

It's not black and white these days.

Suzuki 1.2 VVT engines were rather nice in that they never had a turbo. Like Toyota VVT's/

VW obviously bought into Suzuki to learn more on small capacity engines and from what Suzuki were working on with their previous partners.

How fortunate Suzuki were to buy their final shares back overnight as VW were about to be found out.

Some coincidence. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34275917

Do you remember Subaru's Jumbuck George?.

Yes would have loved one.

Some barsteward broke my mirror on my Suzuki last night when parked pavement side.

Luckily a stick on mirror only £4.58 from Ebay and that includes free delivery.

Thanks for the barsteward label George......must remember that one

IIRC Huck sold his 335d for a suzuki sport many years ago... simply as it was far more fun to drive. This was to do his GP practise work over the peak district. IIRC at the time it was a 1.5 or something, bit of a overlooked hot hatch...

For me unless I was doing over 20k I'd be in petrol all day long now. SWMBO has been beating the air pollution drum for 20years. It's a complicated argument, but petrol is on a resurgence, co2 debates v particulate. The goverment now it's had it's cut, will turn and have new cut.

That's a modern take on the old Suzuki Whizkid SC100 rear vents...
