Superchips bluefin-vrs

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I know there's a good few posts out there about remaps, but I'm wondering does anyone have any experience with the Superchips bluefin on thier mk2 vrs?

My motor is 2011 CAVE, was an oil user but has now had the fixes done and it seems to run great. No oil in he last 3.5k, opposed to 500ml in 200 miles. It's got 37k on the clock. Also has the dsg recall too.

I don't want crazy power as I believe these are highly strung engines in the first place, but wondering if anyone has gone down the bluefin route. I like the fact I can put the map on and off the car and I've ran it on two previous motors all be it Ford diesels which loved it!

Cheers!

I haven't used the bluefin mate but most people like myself seem to go for the TMC tuning box or blue spark

It is not a Tuning Box, it is a remap. (Bluefin is your handheld you get if you buy)

Superchips have done a few Polo GTI Twinchargers i know of and a mate bought one (2011) and it was good for 205 hp and drove well.

Talk to them and see if they will still remap a CAVE Twincharger.

That's good to know, I've had a couple of bluefin maps on previous cars and they've been great.

Thanks!

Let us know if they will still do 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136kw Twinchargers.

Read their Warranty bit, it has its T&C's and really just covers them and what they do.  Twincharger issues might mean they will no longer do Re-maps on them,

Interested to know what Superchips say these days.

Personally i would go APR with switchable map, i see no point in Bluefin.

Why do you want to remove the Map, they are better than the VW Maps.

Yep, spoke to them and the still do the CAVE. Apparently thy developed the map on their own 1.4 CAVE Polo.

They don't to the CTHE.

Reason for bluefin is purely from good past experience and being able to remove the map in winter when my Fords didn't like snow/ice.

Also in trying to contact my local listed APR dealer I've had no response to calls or emails.

Ask if they ever did a Fabia vRS. Your might be a simple to do ECU maybe not, Superchips issue if you ask was i think the 3 different ECU's and their Polo was not the same as a vRS they tried to do.

The APR Switchable map is exactly that, you can put in Valet mode.

As to a Stage 1 in the Winter / Snow there is no issue, you just do not floor it unless you want to.

Seems they did thier development on the polo and not a vrs!

I'd say Apr is the way to go then, just need to find a dealer in the North East who can do it now....

What i am saying is that early VW Polo GTI were being mapped easily when early vRS were needing the ECU opened, then there are 2 more different ECU's for CAVE then CTHE before mid 2013 when there was yet another.

APR is the way to go because of the proven gains and reliability.

Ah, fair point!

Thanks for the info, if I do go for a remap it'll be an Apr one.
