1.2 tsi total engine failure

^^^

Was this with a VW which then will maybe have Skoda Ireland saying, 'never heard of that'?

(rather than the Sales peoples 'They all do that'.)

Is there any relevance to a Euro 6 Emissions 1.2TSI.

Other than we know that VW have issues with Component Choice, Manufacturing & Quality Control, then the 3 monkeys & poor aftercare service.

The Sun newspaper 2 days ago is running a story where a lady says her £21,000 new Octavia could have killed her.

She appears by the story to have had the usual Skoda UK Dealerships treatment, pan someone off.

They appear to have originally chose Kinder to make the pulleys, hence the shearing of bolt mounts and the damage to engines.

The later 1.2/1.4 TSI engines seem to be fairly robust and trouble free. I believe the likes of VW and audi experienced some issues with their early engines though.

Snagging faults happen,  VW could say that, they have been happening for decades with VW Group engines,

but they never admit that, actually being awkward unless forced into actions.

It is why VW are known to use Owners / Buyers as their real world road test dummies on their new engines / vehicles.

In other World Regions with strong consumer rights and courts they act quicker, do recalls, in the European Home market they just deny for long enough

and tell owners ' One off'  **** happens.  Sometimes a TPI or Service Campaign, seldom Recalls in the EU or UK as the DVSA listen to VW and let them take the Pith.

That is the issue, and maybe the point the OP will need to get understood.

ettlz oh bother I did not think that anyone with a newer car would be having problems, does not look like there are many "oil drinkers" around judging by what I've spotted in Skoda/VW/SEAT forums, mine certainly isn't - to be honest I can't remember reading about any (other) 1.2 90 or 110 belt driven 4 cylinder engines using oil.

James@RRGRochdale  I am still hoping that this issue I read about was indeed just an early batch of engine's issue, as you are confirming.

To be fair, it might or might not have; I can't entirely guarantee the accuracy of my dipstick technique.

Bumping this so that it can be seen by anyone with a 1.2 TSI engines issue now.  If you use a search engine you will see a few 2016 threads from others.  There were issues but really over the past near 8 years or so not that many on here.
