H1 LED bulb 4300K anyone?

Featured Replies

Has anyone gone through the process of upgrading the Octavia Mk 2 high beam H1 from halogen to 4300K LED, preferably without fan cooling? If so, pls. provide the names of the components and suppliers.

I already have the H7 4300K HIDs for low beam and they have performed flawlessly for 6 years now, but are apparently unable to handle the flasher function (with any light combination on, including all off), plus the standard H1s provide an almost useless orange light. I don't want blue-colored halogens with an average 500-hr lifetime either.

I'll appreciate very much your hands-on experience.

Hey

I purchased these from this seller in May last year: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162366992157

The problem you will have with the larger fan assisted ones is physically getting then into the headlamp housings

I've used these all through the Croatian summer (30+ deg every day, 20-25 at night) without any issues with cooling, even for extended use on the highway at night

The one issue is that, like almost all of the LED bulbs, they will set off the main beam warning when you first start the car and the bulb warning light will stay on while driving - I'm normally 110% anal about these things but I've kind of got used to it

They also throw closer to a spot than a flood beam, it's not bad by any means, but be aware that it's different to the standard halogens

No, they're not cheap, but I have ordered these and other LED items from this seller and have been very satisfied with the quality

:)

I have a pair of these fitted (in H11 fitment... the base fittings are interchangeable but use the same LED)

Very impressive results in a fog light (used mainly for cornering lights, but I have tried them as fog lights on a quiet pitch black country lane)

The only downside is they are quite bulky so not sure if they will fit in behind the headlight covers?

Thank you all for sharing your experience.

The 4300K LEDs apparently do not exist, at least in the H1 guise. The ones installed by hrvrs are 6,500K, way too bluish for my needs, beside being currently unavailable.

I have purchased a 6,000K pair which acted up, switched off after 10 sec etc, and later a pair of shunts, to fix the issues, hopefully.

Will report on the developments one of these days, after getting dirty and bruised.
