That is good.  If only we can get some of the dealers not to top up the screen wash and charge the earth for the privilege of them doing it rather than me at a princely sum that would be good.  Try to remember to fill to the brim before service but sometimes forget.

The dealer is going to charge the 'fixed price' in any case surely.

I wonder if anyone has provided the oil and been compensated?.

It would be a significant loss of profit margin, if so

Yes I have done that because I had a "fuel" (garage) card which effectively meant I could get it at 40% of price and much less than the service garage charge.

They make most of their money from the charge at rate.  Skoda can be around £75 per hour for a main dealer with Audi dealers £100 an hour so that is their main revenue line generator for servicing I reckon.

The fixed price offer is a double edged sword, locking you in to the fixed charge at a dealership for the prescribed period.

I never took a Japanese vehicle, bought new, in for ANY service because I was at an age where I could do it all to my satisfaction..........and they were sooo reliable

As more people use PCP rather than plain HP a requirement of PCP is that you have it serviced by the book, if you intend to give it back at the end of the PCP period.

Only 14% of car registered now are bought outright or HP and the rest PCP in a huge change to the way we obtain our cars, in my opinion brought on by the crippling change to the 20% VAT/ General Sales Tax introduced a few years ago ie buy and lose several grand right away.

Ryeman,

Some do try to charge the fixed price. But if you say no Screen Wash or Screen Wash is full and it is on your Invoice then you ask for the full bottle

or what is left in a bottle.  Reason being they charge for Parts & put 20% VAT on.

Well if it is not supplied and still in their store room they are defrauding the customer and HMRC (Customer & Public). 'Simply Clever'.

So if they want to put parts on and charge VAT then they need to provide the parts, same with Labour, VAT is on that as well if a VAT registered place.

(VW / Skoda type Fixed & Variable servicing in the UK is now really outdated where the Service Schedule / Guidelines and Customer & Vehicle Requirements

might be very different from what Fleet / Lease vehicles get.)
