Front assist system working.

Featured Replies

Good Morning,

I have the front assist system installed and working judging by the odd warning I get when cars slow suddenly in front.

The car also braked by itself once I think.

I was braking softly coming up to stopped traffic so not to dump shopping off the rear seat. Car somehow stopped quicker than I wanted and bag slid off.

I thought for a while that it was my fault but something seemed off.

I have the sensor only. There is no front camera installed. Does the front facing sensor have any other job?

HD.

The front assist works off the radar system for acc it is situated under the skoda badge in the grill the wide section in the middle

the sensor in the windscreen is for auto lights and auto wipers only

If you have touched the brakes, the system will disable the Active Cruise control i thought.

I use it all the time now, even on A roads at any speed.

Just make sure you adjust the range of the radar once engaged via the trigger switch on the ACC stalk.

Depending on the spec there's a camera at the top of the windscreen in with the light/rain sensor for road sign recognition and lane departure warning too. You might also have triggered the brake assist function which will put the brakes on harder than usual for the force on the pedal if the car reckons you hit the pedal too suddenly (Unlikely in the situation you described though).
