Audi Owners' Forum - recommendations?

Featured Replies

As I've mentioned elsewhere on this forum I'm seriously considering investing an a 2001-04 Audi A4 Avant as my next car, for various reasons. I've chatted to one or two people that have had one and received some good advice but being on this forum has been absolutely invaluable to me as I've owned my first car.

I'd therefore like to find a similar forum for Audi Owners where I can gain advice and I know a few people on here run a few cars or used to run Audis so was wondering if anyone could recommend a good forum - ideally where they're patient with absolute newbies!

Cheers

Had an A4, and an A3, with the 1.9 PD engines in them,  also numerous Skodas with that engine in the 130 hp form.  Best 4 cylinder diesel VAG have produced IMO.  Great car though a little crammed in the back.  Audi dealerships are usually a rip off I found, snotty lot so best avoided.

Turbo can go pop, quite a lot of cases and even a refurb one and the work can cost a grand.  Depending on mileage, for a car of that age, I would perhaps consider a 150 FSI instead as there is nothing to go wrong but then the fuel consumption is not as good of course.

Cheers lol-lol and Ryeman. Is the 2.0FSi a petrol? Part of my reasoning for wanting a 1.9TDI is that I have a limited budget for purchasing and insuring the car - probably around £1500 max for buying the car itself, and that inevitably means a high-miler - hence going diesel. Also, for me insurance would be much cheaper on a 1.9TDI than a 2.0 petrol.

For what it's worth, I am budgeting for the increased repair/maintenence costs on this compared to my Fabia and I'm fine with that, it's just the inital outlay where I don't want to spend over that unless it's a really good deal.

How much would it cost to get a reconditioned turbo if I want to get it done before it goes pop?

Thanks again for taking the time to reply - sorry for all the questions!

FSI = spark ignition

TDI = compression ignited

When I owned an Audi, I used on Audi-sport.net.
