Car is going in tomorrow for the grill wrapping Gloss Black, and Sun Strip (which will hide the dash cam suction mount)

Probably going to have the rear windows tinted whilst its there.

Will post pics up tomorrow when its done.

Cheers

Well, had the car in, but stopped short of the window tints... for now anyway.

Saving the £150 towards an exhaust instead.

Anyway, delighted with the grill wrap and sun strip (Well worth the £54 all in :) )

Then when I got home, decided to debadge the rear (just the Skoda and Fabia badges)

Prefer the smoothness and also easier to wash

And finally, an overall sideshot pic

Starting to really love the car now, and got lots planned but it is still a work in progress.

Thanks for looking

Any tips on getting the badges off

I used a hairdryer to heat them up and then they peel off easy.

I used an old bank card to save my fingers touching the hot letters!

No need to use cotton as on past cars (whether it's just because the letters have only been on a few months I don't know)

The last bits of the sticky residue was gotten off with a clay bar. This took a fair bit of elbow grease I must say.

Then I polished using my das 6 machine polisher on both areas and waxed them to finish.

Treated myself to a private plate, so got myself some pressed plates in Skoda plate holders.

They look really good and were only £20 delivered

Looks great. My wife has one of these but in Race Blue with black wheels and roof. She seems to get many positive comments about its looks. Great to drive as well.

Race blue was my second choice if I couldn't get a green. Love the blue, but I've had 2 Octavia VRS in Race blue so wanted a change.

Well, got the plates on. Delighted with the whole process to be honest. Bought them on the DVLA website Wednesday, ordered the plates and holders which came Friday as well as the certificate of entitlement to the plate.

This morning, did the online details swap on the DVLA website (no more waiting in line at the local DVLA office!) and informed the insurance (who waived the usual £20 admin fee)

Result! :)

Peeled mine a couple of weeks ago. Two years old they certainly sticked, but -carefully!- using a heat gun on low and using some thinner the double-stick tape eventually went off.

Polish and wax after that, of course. Thinner didn't harm the clear lacquer, but I'd do a test if  solid paint.

Love the car! how does the internal sun strip look close up with the existing black dots? i was thinking of getting one myself but thought the dots would ruin it.

Went for the external sunstrip in the end, so it hides the suction mount of my dash cam.

Would highly recommend having a sunstrip fitted, really helps cut down glare when driving (and looks smart)

Ahhh ok! Does it get in the way of the wipers at all? If not im goin to buy one right now! :D

The edges of the wipers does go over it by a few mm but it doesn't affect anything.

You could always have it smaller if it bothered you, but like I said it just runs over it without a problem.

Ok thats awesome!

Cheers! :D think im going to order a black and red one for this beaut! Haha

how tall is your sunstrip in the center? im getting one made but need a rough measurement as a reference, i was thinking around 10cm. also what size font is the 'SKoda' on yours?

cheers

It's a plain gloss black sunstrip.

You just overlay whatever sticker you fancy on the top of it.

The strip measures 20cm at the edges and curves to 14cm in the middle. The letters are 5cm for the motorsport bit and a bit bigger for the Skoda part.

Hope that helps

thats great thanks! i think im going to go with 10cm in the center with 7cm font and skoda badges on each side.

thanks for the help I will post a pic up when it gets here!

Just fitted my new sunstrip a few moments ago. Added a bit of pinstriping as i had a load left over from when i did the rest of the car

Im not too sure about the placement of the pinstripe on the out side, i think it might look better about half an inch up from the bottom instead, like on the inside.

I have a couple of small skoda logos on the way that are 80mm long to put on the left side both inside and outside

@Nathanb93 I think it looks really good as it is mate, cracking job

You getting some Team heko wind deflectors? Love mine... combined with the sunstrip it makes for a very pleasant shaded area without the need for the visor down or sunglasses

Edited by Damo

Thanks @Damo I had thought about the deflectors but decided I didnt like the look. however I didnt even notice them on your car so I might change my mind... but I think im more interested in lowering it next just not sure how much to go. The eibach 30mm/45mm seems like alot and I dont want to make the car impractical.

Im supposed to be saving up for a house! haha :D oh well never mind

Edited by Nathanb93

You won't get 30mm/45mm in the real world, as your Monte Carlo is lower than my Colour Edition... more like 25mm from what I gather.

I will be lowering mine in the not too distant future too...look like they're on stilts as standard :(

ahh! ok well i I think they are the same height, I didnt get the sports suspension, mine just looks a little lower because of the mud flaps and/or body kit.

what size wheels are yours? mine are 16s, have been thinking about changing these too for some aftermarket ones and for something easier to clean. i saw these in a demon tweaks magazine a few months ago and i think they would be perfect! also should still get a good price for my skoda wheels while they are in great shape. you never know, My skoda wheels might even be worth enough to pay for the new ones! :D

and would also get rid of those irritating skoda center caps that corrode when you look at them for too long!

@Nathanb93 You certainly like your black and red theme don't you :D

Yeah, mine has the 16's too.

I have seen some 17's I want when funds allow

Im guessing your not on PCP or are keeping the car.

If not I wouldn't sell the original alloys, better keep them safe.

If your keeping then yes, sell them and put the money towards the 17's

Sorry, thought yours had the Sports suspension going by the pics... seems lower than mine, but like you said could be the body kit and mud flaps giving the illusion.

Edited by Damo

@Damo I certainly do! haha

yeah its on pcp but i plan on keeping it for a while, especially if it can be re-mapped to 140BHP! :D

the plan is, if i spend money on it i wont want to trade it in for another new one that doesnt compare, i dont want do be paying out 200 a month forever. thats why i got the monte carlo, so i didnt end up buying it 3 years later and waisting a load of money.

looking back, i should have probably just bought a used one :D but its been a yeah now and i love it more than ever!
