lots of toys,

Heated leather, Dab, Apple CarPlay , Nav, built in Wifi, electric boot opening and closing, memory front seats to name a few.

very happy with it so far.

Lot of car for the money Mike, happy motoring mate. :)

Either you got a cracking deal or these devalue rather quickly!

Enjoy the new car - Loving the colour and options.

Was a very good deal, helps when your mate is the big cheese at the dealership.

Nice Mike - enjoy

Whats your engine spec?

Im now in a 2009 160SE 2litre diesel hatchback.

i like it too, other than its thirstier than the mk1 was .

1.6cdti 136 BHP, first tank 46 mpg. Engine still tight, will improve when it's done a few more miles.

I had a 1.6 CDTi 136 Zafira Tourer Elite a while ago (my last company car after a couple of Mk7 GTD Golfs); it drove brilliantly and the engine was great, lots of torque and very quiet/refined.

Only downside was AdBlue, topping it up was a bit of a pain.

Vauxhall do make a good car, they tend to get a bit of unfair treatment IMHO.  The Insignia Elite is extremely well equipped and a nice car, just a shame the residuals are so poor (still makes it a very good nearly new/used buy).  Enjoy it MDK1

Well 3 weeks into ownaship.

now covered 2600 miles in it, a few long weekends away,

its a big comfy car to ride in and very easy to drive, the nav is very good and the dab has good coverage.

the built in Wifi has been great for the girls, also the ability to look up destinations on your phone and send it to the car nav.

so far it's averaged 46 mpg over the 2600 miles which is good, the engine is starting to loosen up a bit now at just over 5000 miles.

the only downside so far is the door mirrors get very dirty in bad weather or dirty roads very quickly, hopefully a couple of layers of glass polish will do the trick.

All I need to do now is give it a clean!!

So very happy with it so far.

Sounds good Mike. Probably worth getting some Aquapel or Gtechniq glass sealant on the door mirrors. Plus the windscreen and side windows really.

Was planning on doing that this weekend after it's been washed, bit of road grim on it at the mo.

That's a decent amount of car for the money!

Just looked up the specs on the engine. Pretty impressive power and torque from a 1.6 litre. The red line is also very high!

Is it a 6 speed auto? If so I believe it has the Aisin Warner TF80-SC. Very similar to the AF40-6 and uses the same AW-1 oil spec.

Ignore any "sealed for life" notions from Vauxhall on the gearbox. Change it at least every 70-80k miles.

Yeah it's the auto,

very easy to drive and hardly ever go above 3k revs in normal driving.

i know it's not the most respected manufacturer, but I really like it, as I drive about 100k a year it's nice to get in a comfortable car for the 45 mile drive home from work.

Meh. The way I see it is like all car manufacturers they have had their problems and have produced cars that had their problems. But on the whole they are decent cars.

We had a Mokka for a couple of weeks when our Octavia was being repaired. Apart from the very firm "leather" seats (which looked completely different to yours and were very flat) and a couple of bits of cheap feeling plastic in a couple of places it was a pleasant car to be in and drove very nicely.

It had the same gearbox that yours has in- the 6 speed auto which was very smooth but nice sharp changes when flooring it.

It's got decent kit in it, looks comfortable and is easy to drive and economical. What more does a car need ti be?!

Check you don't have the heated mirrors left on.  I used to have a Passat and if I accidently left the heated mirrors on the glass would get very dirty very quickly!!

The mirror heaters auto turn off after a few mins.

The dirt is a result if the aerodymanics of the car.

I washed gerhard a couple of weeks ago the inner edges of the wing mirrors (through the gap to the body) were manky after yhe 50miles home.. and the back acts as a vacuum and literally sucks mud off the road onto the number plate area :D

But they are comfy for a long drive...

I know. Drive a small car transporter for work all over the country.

Remembered the job, just didn't know it would be that many miles :D

Rather joining the club MDK1....I have a 3 door Polo GTI for work which is just great.....but no good for family duties.

Our "family" car at present is a rather tidy 2001 Forester S Turbo auto which I bought in the summer for myself on a bit of a whim but has ended up replacing the Octavia now thats gone and I have the GTI.

Its reliable as hell but 16 years old, 18mpg around town its just not sustainable long term.

So just bit the bullet on an 8 month old, 6.5k mile ex. rental Zafira Tourer 2.0 CDTI 170 Elite Auto.  To buy an equivalent age/spec Sharan, Alhambra, S Max would have been loads more and shoud shunt along quite nicely with the 170hp motor.

Only thing of note it doesnt have is Nav (has Bluetooth) but it does have OnStar.  Not overly familiar with OnStar, how do you rate it?  I might get a few months free service but wondering if its worth the £89/year to keep it going after.  As nice as the 4G internet is, expect I wont bother with it.

Enjoy your new car.

used Onstar a few times, is it worth £89? Not sure, but if Lynz and the girls are in and have a problem it's nice to know that with the press off a button help will be on the way.

the wifi is great for journeys, once the free trial has ended it £20 for 10gig.

£89 for a year isn't too bad I guess.

Is there an alternative to the 4G wifi? Can you stick another SIM card in?

Hi Phil,

Ive learned that the OnStar UK data service runs on CDMA like it does in the states, so gather the cars hardware itself is associated to the cellular network rather than a SIM (as SIMs arent used with CDMA).

I'd heard that Vodafone provide the CDMA services for OnStar UK.  Its unlimited use for the 1 year period then £240/year for 10G/month.  You can go daily use - 1G for £5......
