Name that Nav !

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm looking at an advert for a vRS, but the exact spec is not so clear and I'm still fairly new to Octavias
Can anyone help me identify which info/nav system this is from slightly blurry picture ?

It's a Jan 2015 registered car if that provides any clues ?

Thanks

The screen is larger than mine, so not a  MIB1 Amundsen.

Its a Columbus

Looks like Columbus to me.

I think likely a MIB1 given the Jan 15 registration.

Agree on Columbus.  The way to be sure is to ask if there is a CD/DVD drive in the glovebox.  MIB1 Columbus cars will have a drive.  Later MIB2 Amundsen cars (with a similar-sized screen) will just have a blanking plate and no actual means of playing CDs.

I've got an Amundsen MIB2 unit and it's a noticeably smaller size and different shape to that pictured.  Must be a Columbus IMO.

I've got a Columbus in my Octavia, looks pretty much the same as that ... mine was first registered just over a year ago, Jan 29th 2016.

Got the 2 x SD slots and CD / DVD slot in the glovebox.

Decent nav, but I end up using Google Maps through Android auto more as it has proper traffic reporting, not the rubbish TMC that rarely works.

Thanks Guys.  So it seems it's Columbus

Again, forgive my newbie ignorance - but what is MIB ?
and what's the difference between MIB1 vs MIB2 ?

MIB1 is older units from launch to MY16 iirc, MIB 2 is MY16 onwards. With the Columbus they are pretty similar in terms of spec, screen size, resolution etc. But MIB2 has some additional functionality such as Smartgate, Android/Apple screen mirroring etc.
