Power Stearing Light!

Featured Replies

I parked my Fabia vRS on my parents drive this morning when i went to vist. Car was stationary for about 30 mins (their drive is angled at about 15-20%). When i came back and turned the ignition on the power stering light was on!

The stering was not heavy and the pump was still working. I reversed off the drive onto the road (level) and turned off the engine. waited a few seconds, then turned the engine back on. The light had gone out!

Any suggestions as to why? I have a thought that it may be because of the angle i was parked (pointing up slightly) and maybe the car thought it was low on fluid?

i had it happen on my furbie a few time but the steering cut out as well leaving it unassisted which was interesting no idea why though?

The Fabia uses Electric-assistance, so doesnt have power steering fluid..

maybe it logged a fault code? if it happens again.. get your dealer to put it on their computer thingy :)

o yes it does :D

Just for info the Fabia power steering DOES have power steering fluid, the system is actually electro-assisted. You might find that the fluid level could get ignored on a service as the battery needs to come out to check the level!!

People,

The Fabia has an inherent problem with regards to this power steering assembly. Its actually the power steering sensor thats faulty. It has to be changed so as the problem of LED light on your dashboard will not come on consistently.

The Fabia doesn not run on rack & pinion assisted steering but is elcetronically controlled. Get it back to the dealer, make sure they replace it !! The original doesnt hack it !!

Just my 2cents worth.

:D :D

Ahh, you learn something new everyday :D

when mine goes in next. ill get them to change the weight to 151. good exercise :)
