Vrs for the weekend

Featured Replies

just a post really on my experience with the fab vrs,

for the first 4 months of owning the car i used my vrs for the communte to work and back everyday (a good hours drive) and i must say i was starting to get bored of it, and started to think of modding

but since changing jobs i now drive around all week in a sluggish 1.8td escort van. This is painfully slow, but thats life. With the fab vrs sitting at home all week.

But when the weekend comes and i go for a blast in the furby its such a pleasure and you really appreciate what a fun little car it is and can over look some of the little niglgles and enjoy it, With driving in the same style as the van you really do risk your license and you have to really control your right foot, but there's still a remap on the cards, its a case of knowing the engine is capable of more so theres always a part of you wanting to try it!

Cheers, happy driving!

I have had my used, but modified Fabia vRS for a fortnight on Friday, and I commute every day totalling 40 miles ( best time both ways 1 hr ) and after owning 4 new tdi polos and a new tdi beetle (latterly, it was the war office's idea) over the last 4 years, I must say I am most impressed with my Skoda.

It may be down slightly on mpg , obviously due to its impressive performance, but the build quality is on par with my vw's , and the braking performance is even better ( standard brakes ) than I expected even given that I drive it in a 'spirited ' manner.I was considering a new polo gt , but its 15k ish list price, for essentially the same car is a no-brainer. MY dealer is fine, given its mods, the insurance , given its mods, has only cost me

Know what you mean - quite amazing how quickly you get used to the performance etc... and a car that when you first got it felt like the fastest thing ever, just feels normal and not that quick.

Supose that's the point of re-maps !!!

Graham - did you buy your car from Lightcliffe? - just that i saw a red 1 with a milltek on their forecourt a few weks ago

Yup, I used to go to school with Nigel, the dp , and I was directed there from Lightcliffe , who are brilliant at sales, but totally crap (no excuses for dissing them, they are crap) at aftersales. If the sales team defected to 'Uddersfield, they would take all my money, my wife, the child and the house (but not colin the cat !) 5 new cars in 4 years ! its a good job my wife pays the mortgage and not the bank loan!!

Actually, Im a bit the opposite, I use the VRS as my delivery wagon daily commuter and at the weekends I use my Honda, On Mondays when I get back into the VRS I miss VTEC so badly!!! lol!!! Dont get me wrong the VRS isn't anywhere near slow, but its peak power is what 3000-3500+ and my S revs out at 9200rpm!! FFS Vtec doesnt even cut in until 6200RPM, first modification is the big remap once I get the fabia run in, that should make things a bit more interesting!!!! :D

Believe me it will be interesting !

Bloke at work has just chopped his vTEC Civic in for a Leon TDI whatsit, he picks it up tomorrow, and already wants a go in my Fabia, I will keep you posted!

Red wine and computers don't mix (hic. )
