Ignition problem

My second problem is a frustrating little issue that every 5-6, 7-8 times we turn the key to get ignition, the car starts for a second then dies. Turn the key again & instantly into life as if there was no problem. It's almost as though there is a fuel starvation problem; but then why would it start perfectly normally for the next so many times... I was thinking of the fuel filter - but it can't be that as it'd be happening all the time / far more frequently... Can't find any info about this problem elsewhere so figured I'd join up and see whether anyone here has had the same trouble?

 Otherwise, we suffered the dreaded stretched timing chain fiasco and £700 lighter, it was fixed.

On the plus side, we do love the car, fabulous wee Fabia, quick (105hp very quick when it needs to be) and no other problems other than the central locking on the other post.
