Petrol vRS High Revs in the Heat

Featured Replies

Hey Skoda peeps,

I have noticed some unusual behaviour from my Skoda RS 2.0 petrol. When it is hot here in Australia, I'm talking 40oC+, my Octavia pulls high revs with standard 'drive' mode selected on the DSG. It behaves like it is in 'sport' mode.

Has anyone else experienced this? Have they found the root cause of the issue? I have my suspicions, however I wanted to ask first.

I have the same car/ engine in SA and haven't noticed this issue on 40C+ days.  Oil runs a few degrees warmer at 107C but nothing else obvious.

Does this happens all the time ? or some times during highway trips ? Like droping a gear apparently randomly during steady drive. In that case it could we related to canister purging requirements.

It could also be from the ECU software choosing to reduce boost and therefore intake temps.

For the same power output, higher rpm = lower load = cooler engine.

Thanks @manamp27 That's the issue. I was pretty sure it was related to engine or gearbox management in hot weather.

Good to know it's not the DSG getting ready to explode...
