Is there a larger petrol engine than the 1.4

Featured Replies

can you still get a 2 ltr or 1.6 petrol engine, in the new or fl versions, not the problematic one

1.4TSi, 1.8TSi and a 2.0TSi in prefl

1.4TSi and 1.8TSi in fl

2.0TSi 220-280BHP in S3

I think there was a TSB for fitting revised pistons /rings where oil consumption is excessive on the 1.8 - Can't confirm if these have also been revised in later cars

I have read about oil consumption issues on earier 1.4tsi's (especially twincharger on Fabia VRS) however I can report the oil top up bottle bought when I got the car 22 months ago remains sealed and un-opened. It has used very little oil between it's 10k services and has never required topping up - however the oil does get darker than I expected approaching a service (not black - just darker)
