With the water pump, driving along with the window open I could hear a strange noise coming from the engine bay. Hard to explain but bit of a rattle type sound- This happened before I started losing the coolant. Soon as the pump was replaced, the noise disappeared. Cost around £380 I believe at main dealers although I paid £320 ish at independent- genuine part.

Apart from sundries this will be the next oem part to go on mine, I think my tuning garage would be able to do it should the need arise rather than skoda

For the price i got it at a Skoda Dealership i would not be going to some Independent or Specialist unless the Mechanic there was a VW Master Tech.

What cost me was the diagnosis, but even then that was kept as low as the Master Tech could do.

The job is a PITA.

You want the 2 year warranty on parts and the Dealerships Guarantee on the work carried out.

(If you are getting the Water Pump done before issues arise then the Diagnostic charge should not be required.)

Too many places say, We do these all the time,  they mean 1.4TSI Turbo's. 

Even Skoda, VW, Audi & SEAT places have some person say, 'We do these all the time', and when you ask them what they are and how many they have a bad memory. 

Maybe that is just a thing that happens in Scotland though.  Sir Arnolds & Parks as an example.

Moved from Insignia 220 turbo (evil beast) to Mk 2 VRS petrol. Great driving car and comfortable despite firm ride. Runs BP Ultimate 97 (no other grade available in NI), Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 changed every 10k, Currently running very well with 1st change of spark plugs by main dealer at 36k and are about to be changed to Bosch at 55k. No real issue regarding oil consumption. Slight use but acceptable. All in all a car for driving as quick or relaxed as your mood takes. Average 45mpg. Would recommend.

This is what sold me on the vRS over a year ago, it's lovely for just poodling around and in return you get great mileage, then the moment you feel 'in the mood' just slam that throttle and away you go
