Superb 190 vs Passat 150

Featured Replies

Morning All,

I test drove both a 16 plate Passat with the 150 DSG box and 16 plate Superb with 190 DSG yesterday.  I am well aware of other threads here about the lack of performance of the 190 (perceived or otherwise).  To me the 190 in the Superb seemed to pull significantly better, far more able to make good progress with it.  There was some hesitancy to kick down under acceleration however although this could be overcome with paddles if desired.

My question.........  is there any reason to thing that the 150 in the Passat would behave any differently to the 150 in the Superb (which I haven't driven)?

For any one that was interested, the the Superb was a hatch, sportline on 19in wheels, the Passat was SE Business, probably 17 or 18in wheels.  I was expected the Superb's ride to be comprised as a result but was presently surprised.

Cheers in advance.

There is no lack of performance in the 190 TDI Superb, there are few who find it. It has better or equal performance as the equivalent engines in the BMW 520 and Audi A6 so there is nothing to complain about. As for the DSG, it's probably led programs to suit most people but not all. No one has been able to make everyone happy!
