ACC fault

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Driving along the other day I had the red Front Assist of doom icon show up. I wasn't going overly quick, and the car braked enough for me to let it brake itself completely to a standstill (going uphill). Immediately after, I got a fault appear in the maxidot for 'ACC / Front assist not available'. Tried to accelerate and it wouldn't (on a hill remember - hill hold). Totally wouldn't go anywhere. Turned off the ignition, back on and it was fine again, no maxidot errors.

Here's the error from VCDS - has anyone seen anything similar? I've googled and found a few similar (but not identical) errors on a MK7 Golf.

I've had the red warning many times over the last 70k km and never had the system stop working after it had activated.

I have a manual though rather than the DSG so it wont brake down to a stop for me.

I would mention it to the dealer, assuming you didnt delete the fault codes to see if there are any known issues or software updates available.

I sometimes get the Red Screen of Death on the approach to roundabouts where the lanes curve only in the last ten or twenty metres and Front Assist thinks I'm going to crash (though not at great speed) into the stationary cars in the lane to the right rather than continue along my often empty lane. (Even if I'm in the left-most lane and my LH indicator is switched on, it makes no difference). After such events I have never experienced what the OP has.

I have, however, been shown the 'ACC / Front assist not available' message. It was just the once, when I started the car in a car park (the very ASDA car park I'd earlier used to take pictures of the car). Switching the ignition off and on again did the trick. This was well over a year ago and I've not seen the message since, I'm pleased to say.
