Wheel kicking - which are worth driving?

Featured Replies

Having recently moved to Tamworth, I've got a whole new selection of dealers to go wheel kicking in.

So far I've been in and done the groundwork for:

Ford Focus ST

Golf R32

Vauxhall Astra VXR

MG Rover ZTT

But what is worth driving from the following local dealers?

Mercedes - SLK?

Smart

Toyota

Jaguar ;)

BMW - M3 ? Z4 ?

Sadly thats all the dealers within a 10 mile radius of here :(

Not a bad collection I would say.

MG Rover ZTT:rofl:

There is of course the mini section at the BMW garage in Mere Green.(same as SLK/Z4 urge ;) )

Have a Taz in a Toyota Amazon thing.

More fun though would be the Nissan garage in Cannock. They had a Murano in.Maybe they would have a 350z?

Maybe you will never have to buy a car again if you can book 365 test drives:thumbup:

BMW: M-roadster

Merc: SLK

Toyota: Celica, Hilux :)

New M5 would be worth a play in:thumbup:

Yeah the 190 Celica's fun - 6200 is where you have to thrash it to before anything happens though - the one I took out from work suffered clutch & gearbox failure - at 30k it was on it's second engine. :thumbdwn:

I was reading about these actually in some magazines, that were going on about what they were like as a second hand proposition. The top and bottom of it was, they absolutely had to be revved to get the performance, otherwise they feel very flat... and yet, ironically, the biggest cause of failure was due to being overrrevved

SLK is a girls car and not worth driving unless they've got the Brabus one :D

Go and have a go in a BM - try a 6 series, an M if they have one mmmmm

M6, not the toll road.

You're absolutely spot on - it was actually a really hard car to go quickly in - literally 2nd gear on motorways to get it to go fast - I'd never treat my own car like that :hangs head in shame:

Mercedes - new S-Class

Smart - ForFour Brabus

Toyota - Prius

Jaguar - new XK

BMW - M5

M6, not the toll road.

 oh dear this could go on all day :D

You could pop into the Toyota garage and try out the new 215bhp supercharged corolla, though I wouldn't recommend buying one, as they are far too expensive for what they are! :thumbdwn:

Chris

Whatever you do and wherever you go, watchout, you may endup leaving having bought a new car. Been there and done it, went in to the ford dealer and ended up buying an XR3i cabrio many years ago.

Given the current state of my Octavia I can see it turning into a genuine search for my next car.

Smart - ForFour Brabus

Interested that you suggested that one and not the Roadster / Roadster Coupe Brabus...

How about finding a hyundai garage and having a spin in the new santa fe or the coupe.

Actually found both Hyundai and Fiat dealers last night.

got to be worth a look at the hyundai's. reliable cars although resale value is awful.

Wouldnt go ner the fiats to be honest had too many issues with them in the past although the old coupe was meant to be pretty quick

Reliable?

Aylesbury's Skoda dealer is also a Hyundai dealer. When ever I collected/dropped off the Octavia for a service etc. there were queues of people complaining about broken parts, creaks and ratlles. Most had been back more than once too.

However, I did take a second look at the Hyundai executive bardge on someones driveway last night (no, not like that ;)). Seemed very well spec'd with a nice big engine. Bet it handles like poo though.

SWMBO has a 1.3 Getz, the plastics are cheaper than the Skoda but the car itself has had no problems whatsoever. Alloys, spoiler, fog lamps and the car itself with 5yrs warranty and 3yrs servicing for exactly 7K brand new - you can't say fairer than that

Also, at mid-point last year they'd had NOT ONE Hyundai Getz break down  That's pretty good!

im not a smart fan but the forfour one is similar to the colt czt with the 1.5t engine i think. just thought it would be interesting to see how it was. to me it should be the best in the range and should have proper performance i.e. 150+bhp!
