You should get this screen which your Google now page and the navigation button is under my finger 

This should take you straight into Google maps

And don't forget that you need 'Location' ON on your phone,

and 'Cellular Data' for it to take voice input for your destination I think.

Hello malcster, Thank you Thank you Thank you, you have gone to so much trouble to help me. Your instructions were great and I am up & running. We are off tomorrow to stay with my Daughter for a few days in Brighton, I stall enjoy using the maps.

 

I must admit that I am not very good at using digital equipment, I am well into my 70's and things have change so much since 1941. Anyway, I must say that this is the best forum I have ever used, thanks to people like you.
