I've been offered a Superb Edition 100 for

Hi there all, I'm posting here because I could be joining the Skoda clan... I have been after a second hand Skoda superb for a while, but after ringing up a certain dealer I was offered the following brand new car for

This is a damn good price.

If you don't want it I'm sure someone else will.

I'd even be tempted myself

Collegue of my wife has just got one and ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT. It comes with all the toys, true the 140 bhp engine is due in the cars shortly but the sun roof will no longer be standard in these models.

If your worried about power the 130 will remap to about 185 bhp., he 140 I understand is not as "tuner friendly"

If you dont do many miles trawl the official skoda site for secondhand superbs, there were a few on there with the Diesel V6 ex demo with 100 miles on the clock.

Personally I would go for the car youve seen, as you say its got every toy + a few. The only down side I can see on the Horizon is that the new Superb is out next year so there might be a policy of slashing prices as Skoda did with the Octy which will hit values.

That aside we drive very high mileage with the Diesel Octy which is due for replacement in the next couple of months & as I type this the wife is testing a superb 130 as we believe it probably offers better value than the Octavia L&K , by the time youve added some decent wheels, Xenons & a sun roof (all extra on the Octy). We will put just over 100000 miles on the car in 3 years so depreciation on an Octy will be severe so why not buy a better car & have 3 years luxury motoring.

I think the Superb is a stunningly underrated car & the 100 is possibly the pinnacle of the Superbs

do it, do it, do it. they're lovely, and have just about every option, including the folding seat back on the passenger seat so the rear passenger can lie down, business-class style. that's a *lot* of car for the money. the new 2.0l diesel coming out has an extra 10bhp, but a remap will sort that lot out for you nicely!

Get it bought. Gorgeous car, and that is a very good price indeed. What else is around for that money that gives such levels of quality and comfort, combined with econony? Nothing, thats what.

I agree. That is a huge amount of car for the money. True luxobarge imho

And the piano black trim is ace, the grey leather, all the toys. The wheels look damn good too! Under

If you are happy with it at that price then snap it up. And welcome to Briskoda. :D

Wow, thanks for all the endorsments guys... I'm going to have a look at one in the local showroom now before driving the 100 odd miles to pick up the "special offer" one.

My concerns purely lie in the financial side, however here is how I've justified it...

If I were to buy a Skoda Superb elegance second hand with 40-50k on the clock it would be about

jeez, just reread your OP: the car's *new* at that price? what on earth is the dealer thinking? i thought these went for

Hiya Land Womble

The dealer is in an area where they would struggle to sell a car at £20,000 car so he's fairly desperate to get it out the door. I'll post more details once I've bought it... I just don't want to put the knackers on it by getting the dealer in trouble!

Many thanks for the answers to my questions... the TV thing may be a gimmick but I'm not sure if I can resist. The Vag Com... the only thing I half fancied was turning the seatbelt reminder off!

On the remapping... Wow! Seems incredidble (why don't they do this as standard?). I'll probably wait till my 3 years warranty is up and then do it (or maybe 4 until the finance is paid up!). Let me know how yours is after yours is done re acceleration, speed, noise and economy... for £400 it seems a no brainer if cost the only downside (how does the traction control and all the other acronym stuff ESP, MSR, ASR, EDL, ABC, DEF, 123 etccc cope with the extra power?)

Many thanks,

Jim B

My local dealer was recently running a Skoda promotion called something like "Cost plus a pound".

Basically, they were selling a limited number of cars for the price to the dealer +

Must agree with everyone on here, that is one hell of bargain you have got yourself if you decide to get it!. (Just out of interest is it the one at Sparshatts in Fareham as they have got one in showroom?).

As far as the finance goes, if you decide to go for one of the VW Group offers, I am a bit of an old hat as I have recently just gone through this process on my new car!. There are certain things to look out for which could benefit you greatly, I took out Skoda's "New Solutions" scheme which is basically a PCP ie. with a lump sum to pay at the end.

Make sure you can see the screen when your details are entered and especially when they get to the part on the finance. They can manualy change the interest rate on these packages look to get them to reduce this from the 5.74% (ish) to around the 4.5% mark (this is about as low as they can go before the computer goes into melt down!, also look out for the commission code, this is normally set at 2.000, make sure they reset this to 0.000 as this is the commission the dealership gets on the finance package!.

Finally, keep pushing for a better deal even after they have come back to you the second time with their 'best offer', it's surprising what you can get if you keep at them, you'll know when you have reached the limit!.

Good luck, and I hope you decide to go ahead with this as I think you have got an absolute corker of a deal and if I can be of any other assistance please feel free to send me a PM.

Now I'm not sure how all these finance packages go and what the percentage rates mean, but I have been offered 2.99% flat rate over four years with a £2000 deposit which gives 48 monthly payments of £347.

So on £14900 I pay £16656 in total. I had a quick ring round and haven't found anything cheaper,

Cheers again for all the fantastic info guys and gals,

Is this Skoda's "New Solutions" finance package? and is there a final payment at the end, or is that it?. Is the car the one at Sparshatts - Fareham?

Hi there, no its not the one at Fareham (not sure where that is). The finance policy not with skoda, the dealer has set it up with blackhorse finance I think as they could get a better deal than with skoda.

I'm not meaning to be mean by not giving more info about the deal, its just that my hearts set on it now and I wouldn't want to spoil it by getting the dealer in trouble.... yet!

I'll spill more beans tomorrow when I have the car... maybe not the dealer name, but certainly the method by which they gave me the discount.

Cheers,

JB

good deal m8 but.....

i got my elegance for £17.500 new approx 3 mths ago with ever extra available  .

list price for my car was around £22,000.

i got it cheap because...

the dealer had some cars to shift before a certain time of year to make up his sales figures and.....

the car came as a STAG.....which meens its pre-registered to the garage first, then you get it....

basically, the garage has its name first on the log book , then your name....

but it IS still a brand new vehicle with 2 miles on the clock.

i,m with black horse as well.... £500 down and £104 per wk over 4 yrs...

Yeah, sounds like a similar deal to mine (and there I thought I was special... although I think I've got more chrome!). The method of discount was going to be the same as for you but the dealer got clearance to sell it to me straight (without putting it into their name first) at the last minute.

I'm very happy with the car, tis awesome... The dealer has specifically asked me not to name him but tbh the deal was cleared with Skoda (originally deal as stated in the previous post , but in the end a straight forward sale). So others should be able to get similar, basically the area in which you buy the car bust have some budget left for demonstration vehicles then the discount the dealer gives you can be written off against that. This is an region thing rather than dealer specific as it is Skoda direct giving the discount.

nearly finally, how rubbish are Skoda sales people... they don't know half of the stuff on the superbs... I was told the following by a salesman...

did not have memory mirrors,

did not have fob memory seat (and mirrors)

no head light washers

no "cooler" compartments

the list goes on!

First impressions are:

Lovely! Like the ride, the feel and the gizmos

The bits I like but didn't think I'd get/notice:-

Fob memory seats and mirrors... v useful

Lockable rear fold down seats... nice for security

Full closure and opening of windows from fob

Headlights are awesome

Sat nav is better than I expected (2006 CD).. still no tomtom but good enough

The lights under the mirrors, doors, footwells.... tremendously handy

Heated seats... hmmmmm warm

Wipers- I'd heard on here that they are bad, but they seem quite good to me!

Engine noise- its there but unobtrusive to me

Things I miss, wished I had /thought I'd have:-

The fold down middle section of the passenger seat is fixed... boo

The electric mirrors don't fold in automatically

No automatic headlights

No Heated windscreen (damn ford)

No presets for cruise control speeds (e.g. 30 mph, 50mph, 70mph)

No cold start (start the engine with fob to warm up)

Front corner parking sensors (errr... for my wife;) )

First aid kit as standard.... it really should be

The radio is not particularly user friendly (can you save AM and FM into the same 6 saves?)

Touch screen on the radio

DAB/MP3

I have every single optional extra (bar towbars, tv bits etc...) and I've still got a blank button!

Oh well, I must say I do love the car and am a very happy man, cheers for everyone's advice,

Jim B

p.s. are all skoda dealers much of a muchness for servicing or are there gooduns (between Gloucester and Swansea ideally)

I have every single optional extra (bar towbars, tv bits etc...) and I've still got a blank button!

That would seriously aggrovate me!

I have heated seats in my vRS, and have 2 blank buttons. One of them would be used by the airbag deact display, but I have no idea what the other would be?

:thumbdwn:

Sounds like you have a smashing deal - a truly awesome price. If they were readily available at that price there'd be many more on the roads - Even I'd have one. :o

It's probably the fit in with the width the centre console needs to be or something, not that's there's a button for every option...

I've seen the same issue on plenty of other cars too.

Put an LED in the middle of the button or something Tom, and decide on an acronym to put above it; add your very own options to the vRS ;)
